How long does it take for lymph node puncture to produce results?

Lymphatic puncture is a surgery to check for diseases such as swollen lymph nodes and tuberculosis. Generally, the results will take 3 to 7 days to be known. When doing lymphatic puncture, the most accurate location must be selected to make a diagnosis. After the operation, attention must be paid to skin disinfection and the operation is best performed before meals. Let us now understand how lymphatic puncture surgery is performed.

The main purpose of lymph node puncture biopsy is for qualitative examination. The doctor will conduct relevant laboratory tests on the punctured tissue. Different examination items require different times. Generally speaking, the results are available in 3-7 days. Although most people's swollen lymph nodes are caused by inflammation, a few are caused by tuberculosis or tumors. Therefore, the most accurate treatment is to do a puncture and send it for pathological examination to make the most accurate diagnosis. The puncture operation usually takes less than half an hour or a few minutes if the operator is skilled. It will take three to five days to see the results after the operation.

method

1. Choose a site suitable for puncture, generally taking the more obviously enlarged lymph nodes.

2. Routinely disinfect the local skin and the operator's fingers.

3. The operator fixes the lymph node with the index finger and thumb of the left hand, holds a 10ml dry syringe in the right hand and inserts the needle directly into the lymph node. The depth depends on the size of the lymph node. Then the operator withdraws the needle while suctioning vigorously, using the negative pressure in the empty needle to suck out the fluid and cell components in the lymph node.

4. Fix the plug inside the syringe and pull out the needle, then remove the syringe. After inflating, spray the extracted liquid in the needle onto the glass slide to make a uniform smear, and then stain for microscopic examination.

5. After the operation, the puncture site should be covered with sterile gauze and fixed with adhesive tape.

Precautions

1. It is best to perform the puncture before meals to avoid excessive lipids in the aspirate, which may affect staining.

2. If the aspirate cannot be obtained, the needle can be inserted again from the original puncture point, and continuous puncture can be performed in different directions and aspiration can be performed several times until the aspirate is obtained as long as no bleeding occurs.

3. Pay attention to choosing a site that is easy to fix. The lymph nodes should not be too small and should be away from large blood vessels.

4. Pay attention to the appearance of the extract before making a smear. Generally, the fluid extracted from inflammation is slightly yellowish; caseous substances can be seen in tuberculous lesions, and tuberculous pus contains yellow-green or dark gray viscous liquid.
