Fennel is the mature fruit of the Umbelliferae plant. After the fruit is laid in autumn, the residue is removed and it has medicinal value. The fennel and Poria cocos have pungent and warm effects, and enter the liver, kidney, spleen, and liver and gallbladder meridians. It has the effects of dispelling cold, relieving pain, promoting qi and harmonizing the stomach. Fennel is pungent and warm, can dispel cold, enter the kidneys to warm the kidneys and liver, regulate qi and relieve pain, and is the main medicine for treating abdominal pain caused by cold hernia in clinical medicine; fennel is pungent and warm, can warm the middle, dispel cold and relieve pain, and is good at regulating gastrointestinal qi, strengthening the spleen and appetite, and stopping vomiting. It has good effects on the syndrome of cold stagnation and qi stagnation in the middle burner, and stomach diseases caused by yin deficiency and internal heat.

Step 1: Dispel cold and relieve pain

It has a very good effect on uterine yin deficiency, internal heat, cold pain in the waist, abdominal distension and pain, loose stools and hernia caused by dampness, cold, qi stagnation and blood stasis. In clinical medicine, it is often used together with warming and qi-moving medicines such as cinnamon powder, agarwood, and lindera stalks. To treat menstrual pain in women caused by catching a cold, going out in the rain, and qi stagnation and blood stasis, 15 grams of fennel powder can be taken 3 days before menstruation for a 3-day cycle. It can relax the meridians, dispel cold, regulate qi and relieve pain.

Step 2: Qi and stomach

If you encounter stomach cold, vomiting, poor appetite, and stomach bloating and pain, you can use it with roasted ginger, sweet rhubarb, etc. Patients with chronic gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers mainly show symptoms such as cold pain in the stomach and wrists, heat preference, fear of cold and cold limbs. They can be treated with 100 grams of fennel and 200 grams of ginger slices, stir-fry until yellow and grind into powder, and take 10 grams of medicine with millet soup in the morning, noon and evening every day.

Fry the fennel, put it in a cloth bag and apply it to the stomach or lower abdomen to relieve the pain. It has a good analgesic effect on the stomachache or abdominal pain caused by cold and stagnation, as well as menstrual pain. Modern scientific research shows that the principle of fennel in treating gastrointestinal symptoms lies in the rich fennel oil in its cells, which can stimulate gastrointestinal peristalsis, help eliminate gas, and relieve pain. Therefore, it is often used in clinical medicine as a safe and effective anti-bloating drug.

Step 3: Warming the kidneys and reducing urine

It is used for bedwetting due to spleen and kidney deficiency, frequent urination at night or bedwetting during sleep, sore waist and weak legs, cold pain, etc., caused by congenital hypoplasia, atrial deficiency and kidney damage, or renal failure in the elderly. It can be used together with Alpinia oxyphylla, mulberry silkworm cocoon, and red thornberry.
