Breast and axillary pain is mainly caused by acute mastitis and breast hyperplasia. Many people mistakenly believe that it is caused by periarthritis of the shoulder and lumbar spine disease. What causes armpit pain in women?

Female friends should pay special attention that the distance between the breast on the same side and the armpit on the same side is very close. The blood supply, lymph return, and nerve distribution of the breast are all closely related to the armpit.

Acute mastitis: The inflammation will spread to the axillary lymph nodes on the same side through the lymphatic vessels of the mammary gland, and patients with acute mastitis are prone to swollen axillary lymph nodes accompanied by pain.

Breast hyperplasia: Usually the pain changes regularly with the menstrual cycle. The pain before menstruation becomes more severe, and the menstruation naturally eases and disappears. The patient will have swelling and pain in the breasts or armpits, and may also be accompanied by lumps, and the size of the lumps will also change cyclically with menstruation.

Benign breast tumors: such as breast lipoma, breast leiomyoma, etc. Breast tumors often metastasize to the ipsilateral armpit through the lymph nodes, and patients often discover them when they seek medical treatment when they feel pain in the armpit.

Malignant breast tumors: such as breast cancer, often initially metastasize to the ipsilateral axillary lymph nodes through the lymphatic vessels, causing discomfort.

How to prevent breast diseases

No smoking or drinking

Alcohol can stimulate the secretion of prolactin in the anterior pituitary gland, greatly increasing the risk of breast cancer in women. Studies have shown that women who drink one or more glasses of alcohol a day have a 45% higher risk of breast cancer than those who rarely drink.

There are certain nicotine receptors on the surface of breast epithelial cells. The nicotine in cigarettes will stimulate the cells to overreact, and over time, it will cause the cells to become cancerous and the tumors to proliferate. Studies have shown that the proportion of women who smoke and die from breast cancer is 16%-25% higher than other women.

Quit coffee

Xanthine can promote benign breast hyperplasia, and foods such as coffee, cocoa, and chocolate contain a lot of purine. If female friends consume too much of these foods, the incidence of breast disease will increase.

Childbearing at the right age

A complete pregnancy can cause a series of changes in the mammary epithelium and make it mature, which in turn makes the epithelial cells more resistant to gene mutations, playing a very important role in protecting the mammary gland. Pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding cannot be missed. Of course, childbearing must be done at the right age.

Managing Weight

Obese women have a greatly increased risk of developing breast diseases, which can cause the body to produce large amounts of estrogen and prostaglandin-like substances. Excessive amounts of these substances can easily stimulate the growth of cancer and reduce immunity. Controlling weight within a reasonable range is very important for maintaining women's health.

Reasonable exercise

Appropriate physical exercise can help women maintain their figure, burn excess fat, maintain normal endocrine levels, enhance the body's resistance, and keep the immune system functioning in good condition.

Healthy eating

Three meals a day: Eat three meals at regular times and in regular amounts. Do not overeat or be picky eaters. Intake of nutrition and calories should be planned.

Eat coarse grains in moderation: Modern people usually eat too many refined grains. They can occasionally eat some coarse grains, such as sweet potatoes, corn, beans, etc., which can accelerate the excretion of toxins in the body.
