What to do if polyps grow in the intestines

In daily life, we often face various minor illnesses. Some diseases are not serious and can be treated with medication, while some serious diseases require minimally invasive surgery or surgical treatment. Sometimes people don't eat a healthy diet and often eat spicy and irritating foods, which can cause polyps to grow in the intestines. When encountering this situation, what should we pay attention to? Let's talk about it below.

1. Pay attention to your diet. First of all, it is recommended that you pay attention to fasting from spicy, fried, greasy, high-protein and irritating foods in your diet, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, keep your bowel movements smooth and regular, and avoid constipation caused by low fiber. The longer the constipation lasts, the more toxins are absorbed, and the more likely it is to stimulate the enlargement of polyps or the recurrence of polyps. In addition, alcohol stimulation will aggravate the irritation of polyps, so it is very necessary for patients with polyps to quit drinking.

2. Regular review. There is now evidence that polyps tend to gradually grow larger. Even if smaller polyps (generally ≤5mm) are not removed at the time, they may still grow larger after a period of time. Therefore, patients who have been diagnosed with colorectal polyps should have a colonoscopy every 0.5 to 1 year to prevent bleeding or cancer after they grow larger. 3. Increase exercise. Since the right colon is mainly distributed with parasympathetic nerves, moderate exercise can increase the excitability of the parasympathetic nerves, thereby strengthening intestinal peristalsis, shortening the time that feces stay in the right colon, reducing the effects of some neoplastic substances in the feces on the intestinal mucosa, and reducing the incidence and recurrence rates of polyps. 4. Relax. When a person's nerves are overly tense, the sympathetic nerves that control the peristalsis of internal organs become excited, which will inhibit gastrointestinal motility and slow it down, thus leading to constipation. Constipation will increase the absorption of toxins. Therefore, face the reality and try to relax. As long as you eat in moderation, make reasonable arrangements, have regular check-ups, detect and treat the disease in time, you can greatly reduce the chance of cancer. In short, the key point in treating this disease is "prevention is better than cure."

How to remove intestinal polyps? At present, the main methods for removing colorectal polyps are: ① High-frequency electroresection through fiber colonoscope: suitable for small sessile polyps or those with pedicles but the pedicle is less than 50px. ② Transanal polypectomy of the lower rectal end: It is suitable for pedunculated polyps that can protrude from the anus or for those who cannot protrude from the anus but after anesthesia and relaxation of the anus, the fingers can touch the base of the polyp and the operation can be performed under an anoscope. ③Laparoscopic resection: Suitable for polyp pedicles > 50px, or broad-based polyps > 50px, or polyps that have become malignant and are carcinoma in situ. A small reminder: Once pathology confirms that the polyp has transformed into an invasive cancer that has infiltrated the muscularis mucosa, or the tumor is poorly differentiated and there are cancer thrombi in the lymphatic vessels and blood vessels, radical laparotomy should be performed.
