Is it better to bandage a burn or not?

Is it better to bandage a burn or not?

Burns are quite common in life, and we should understand how to deal with them. As for whether a burn needs to be bandaged, it depends on the actual situation. If it is a serious burn, the burned area needs to be treated properly and generally does not need to be bandaged. However, for skin grafting surgery, bandaging is required, mainly to make the skin graft fit well and avoid skin infection.

Do burns need to be bandaged in summer?

Burns can be bandaged in summer. This is mainly for severe burns, deep second-degree or third-degree burns. Mild or shallow second-degree burns do not need to be bandaged. The treatment method of burns mainly depends on the severity of the burns. In addition to replenishing body fluids and preventing infection, the local area of the burn needs to be treated. For more serious burns, especially those above the third degree, debridement and removal of necrotic eschar are required, and skin grafting surgery is required. After skin grafting surgery, it is necessary to bandage, otherwise the skin graft will not fit firmly, it will be difficult to survive, and it will be difficult to control infection.

How to deal with burns in summer:

First-degree injuries and burns only damage the surface of the skin, causing mild local redness and swelling, no blisters, and obvious pain. You should immediately take off your clothes and socks, soak the wound in cold water for half an hour, and then apply sesame oil or vegetable oil to the wound.

Second-degree injuries and burns are dermis injuries, with local redness, swelling and pain, and blisters of varying sizes. Large blisters can be punctured with a sterilized needle to drain the water from the edge of the blister, then applied with burn ointment and bandaged with appropriate tightness.

Third-degree injuries and burns occur under the skin, and the fat, muscles, and bones are all damaged, and are gray or reddish-brown in color. At this time, you should wrap the wound with a clean cloth and send the patient to the hospital immediately. Do not apply gentian violet or ointment on the wound, as this will affect the observation and treatment of the disease.

Burns can be bandaged in the summer. Burns are divided into different levels and need to be treated properly.
