How long is the acute phase of facial paralysis?

Facial paralysis is a relatively serious neurological disease and should be taken seriously by everyone. In some people, facial paralysis attacks very quickly. During the onset of the disease, there may be severe facial tremors, inability to move independently, and unbearable pain. In this case, you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time with your family to avoid more serious situations and have a certain alleviating effect on the disease. So, how long is the acute phase of facial paralysis?

1. Staging of facial paralysis

Some people divide facial paralysis into three stages, namely: ① development stage, also known as the acute stage or the progression stage of facial nerve inflammatory edema, which lasts about 7 days (1 week). ②The dormant period is 7 to 20 days after onset of disease. ③ Recovery period, more than 20 days after onset. Some people also refer to the above-mentioned dormant period and recovery period as the recovery period, that is, the period within 1 month is called the recovery period, and the period from 3 months to more than half a year is defined as the sequelae period; others divide facial paralysis into the early stage (the first week of onset), the middle stage (2 to 4 weeks of onset), and the late stage (after the 5th week of onset).

2. Treatment Phase

Facial paralysis can be divided into four stages according to the duration of facial paralysis:

1: The best treatment period for facial paralysis is between 1-3 months. Patients at this stage can fully recover in 7-21 days with proper treatment!

2: 0-3 years is the complete recovery period for facial paralysis. Patients at this stage can be 100% cured, it’s just a matter of time!

3: For this type of patients, there is still a possibility of cure as long as the facial muscles do not atrophy within 3-15 years. But treatment is very difficult without perseverance! It is easy to leave sequelae.

4: Facial muscles atrophy and conventional treatment is completely incurable! The only option is cosmetic surgery, but it only treats the symptoms and not the root cause.

3. Reminder for patients with facial paralysis:

Once you find yourself showing signs of facial paralysis or facial nerve paralysis. Be sure to hurry up for treatment so as not to miss the best treatment period and cause yourself greater pain!
