Swelling on both sides of the neck

Swelling on both sides of the neck

There are many lymph nodes in the neck. If there is inflammation in our body, these lymph nodes will swell and we will feel pain in the neck. The best way to reduce the lymph nodes is to take some anti-inflammatory drugs. Some patients may also have redness and swelling in the throat due to tonsillitis. So how to relieve the swelling on both sides of the neck?

It may be swollen lymph nodes in the neck

Cervical lymphadenopathy is a common clinical disease and a type of chronic lymphadenitis. It often occurs on the side of the neck, under the jaw, under the chin, behind the ear, etc. It manifests as varying degrees of swelling of local lymph nodes, either singly or in clusters. The small ones are as big as beans, and the large ones are as big as peanuts. They are slightly hard to the touch, with a smooth surface and can be moved by pushing. There may be mild tenderness. It is often secondary to inflammatory lesions in the head, face, and neck. Some patients may have symptoms of systemic poisoning such as low fever, night sweats, loss of appetite, and weight loss. If not treated promptly, the condition may worsen and develop into an abscess, accompanied by systemic infection symptoms.

Enlarged lymph nodes in the neck belong to the category of "scrofula" and "phlegm nodules" in traditional Chinese medicine. They are common in children or young people. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the cause of the disease is the exogenous six evil toxins that invade the skin, flow into the meridians, and combine with the internal phlegm and dampness, resulting in disharmony between the Ying and Wei, evil stagnation and heat, stagnation of Qi and blood, and obstruction of the meridians to form phlegm toxins; it can also be caused by infection with evil toxins in milk, caries, and boils on the head and face.

Swollen lymph nodes in the neck are equivalent to "neck carbuncle" in traditional Chinese medicine surgery.

Etiology and pathogenesis

1. It is caused by distal trauma infection or severe fire poison in sores and ulcers in different drainage areas, which flows through the meridians.

2. Neck carbuncle is caused by wind-heat or liver-stomach fire poison with phlegm;

diagnosis

1. General situation: There are often primary lesions distal to different drainage areas.

2. Local manifestations: In the early stage, there is only local lymph node enlargement and slight tenderness. Some people can often heal on their own; some people have red, swollen, hot and painful lymph nodes, and when they are cured, a small nodule will be left; in severe cases, the swollen lymph nodes will adhere to each other into a mass, the pain will be more obvious, and they will be dark red, fluctuating, and abscesses will form.

3. Systemic manifestations: There may be symptoms of heat toxicity such as fever and chills.

Treatment 1. Internal treatment: In the early stage of neck carbuncle, it is advisable to dispel wind and heat, resolve phlegm and reduce swelling. The prescription is modified Niu Bang Jie Ji Tang;

Ingredients: 10g burdock seeds, 10g mint, 12g schizonepeta

Forsythia suspensa 12g Gardenia jasminoides 10g Cortex moutan 10g Dendrobium candidum 10g Radix radix radix 15g

10g Prunella Vulgaris

Efficacy: Relieve muscles, clear away heat, resolve phlegm and reduce swelling. Indications: Wind-heat in the head and face, or phlegm and poison in the cheeks and neck, wind-heat toothache, etc. 2. External treatment: Actively treat the primary lesion.

This disease is usually caused by phlegm, dampness, qi stagnation and blood stasis. The disease is caused by a biased constitution, often accompanied by multiple symptoms, which makes the hospital helpless. The main pathogenesis is congenital deficiency, on this basis, plus the acquired life contact

Eating habits and infections can cause diseases; for congenital genetic diseases, Chinese medicine has methods to understand the innate deficiencies and adjust them.
