What to do if your belly is round

What to do if your belly is round

When normal people observe their own stomachs, they will find that they are flat. However, when most parents observe their babies’ stomachs, they find that the babies’ stomachs are very different from those of adults. Most babies’ stomachs are round. Although many parents think that there is nothing wrong with the baby's round belly, some parents may worry that the baby may have gastrointestinal disease. So what should you do if your baby has a round belly?

Some babies will have intestinal gas, and their stomachs will be bloated at this time. The baby will feel uncomfortable, and the parents will also be troubled. How to relieve the baby's intestinal gas? Do we really have to wait until the baby is three months old to relieve the intestinal gas of a baby who is more than one month old? Should we wait? It is really helpless to see him crying every day when he wants to pass gas or defecate. I do the gas-passing exercises every day, but the effect is not obvious. Babies will begin to have more serious intestinal gas from 1 month after birth, which will be slightly relieved after 2 months. In rare cases, it will continue to exist after 4 months. Almost all children are like this.

The baby is very uncomfortable with bloating, and when he starts crying, the whole family will follow suit. Here are a few tips for everyone.

Don't feed too fast

When mothers are breastfeeding, they must pay attention to the speed of feeding. For mothers whose milk secretion is very fast, it is recommended to use a breast pump to suck out some milk from the swollen breasts before each feeding, so that the baby will not choke easily.

Anti-colic bottle

The bottles and nipples that babies usually use are particularly prone to producing small bubbles due to the unbalanced pressure inside and outside, which may cause bloating when the baby puts them in the stomach.

Anti-flatulence milk bottles are also called anti-vomiting milk bottles. Through special design treatments (such as adding an air guide tube that goes directly to the bottom of the bottle), they reduce bubbles and also avoid frequent intestinal flatulence.

The timing of burping

Who doesn’t know how to burp the baby? However, sometimes the baby vomits after just a while. This is bad timing.

If the mother also has this kind of trouble and is afraid to burp the baby, it is recommended to try to let the baby rest for a while. After feeding, let the baby lie on his back quietly for 10 minutes (with the back slightly elevated), and then burp the baby. The spitting up may be alleviated. By the way, you should also pay attention to the technique of patting the burp. Just bend your five fingers and pat gently, or stroke from bottom to top. Don't use too much force.

Help your baby fart

Here is a little trick that is very easy to use: knee pressure method. ① Let the baby lie flat, hold both legs and let the baby bend his knees; ② Push slowly, let the baby's knees come together, press against the lower abdomen, push inward, and hold for 1 to 2 seconds (do not use too much force to avoid hurting the baby's internal organs); ③ Straighten the baby's legs and repeat several times. Generally, the baby will fart after holding on for 1 to 2 seconds. The baby may resist at first, but once the farts are over, the baby will feel comfortable. In addition, rub your baby's belly more often. Parents can distribute the milk with their palms, press gently on the belly, and slowly rotate clockwise. After repeating this several times, your baby will start to fart.

The situation is serious. In addition to the daily small remedies, you should go to the hospital. If you really have severe abdominal distension, you can't delay.

If abdominal distension is accompanied by vomiting, loss of appetite, weight loss, inability to defecate, or even fever and bloody stools, you must seek medical attention promptly to determine the cause.
