What to do after double eyelid surgery

What to do after double eyelid surgery

Double eyelid surgery is a very common plastic surgery method, mainly because it can make the patient's eyes look more beautiful. Of course, another reason is that the price of double eyelid surgery is affordable for the general working class. Of course, after double eyelid surgery, scar hyperplasia may occur. So, how to treat hyperplasia after double eyelid surgery?

1. Surgical treatment

Once a scar is formed, the most effective way to repair it is to remove it. The purpose of surgical treatment is to remove excessive scar tissue and repair the wound using various plastic surgery methods.

Surgery itself is also a kind of trauma and will produce new scars. Therefore, when choosing surgical treatment, you must have sufficient foresight about the extent of scar formation after surgery.

2. Non-surgical treatment

It can be treated with topical corticosteroids. If the effect of topical application alone is not ideal, the drug can be injected directly into the scar, which will be much more effective. Laser treatment can also be used.

3. Pay attention to the cleaning of the wound after surgery

If the wound is not clean after surgery, it is easy to get infected and form scars. Therefore, do not wet the wound when washing your face after surgery. If there is blood scab or secretion on the wound, wipe it with sterile saline.

4. Pay attention to strengthening eye muscle exercises

After double eyelid surgery, doing eye-opening exercises as soon as possible can promote blood circulation in the tissues around the eyes, reduce or eliminate swelling at the incision site, and return to normal as soon as possible.

5. Refuse to be disturbed by cosmetics

After surgery, avoid using sunscreen and anti-wrinkle cosmetics containing heavy metals such as mercury, as these cosmetics may aggravate the scar hyperplasia of the incision. And because the length of time that scars grow after double eyelid surgery varies from person to person, some people recover quickly and their skin becomes very natural in about three months, while some people recover slowly and are still in the scar growth period for about three months. It is recommended that you apply some scar softening cream (such as Shuhen) to help recovery.

6. Keep a peaceful mind

Right after surgery, about 50% of people have double eyelids that look different on the left and right sides, and more than 90% of the time this is caused by the difference in swelling on both sides. So in the first 3 or 4 months before the shape of your double eyelids is completely determined, don’t always look in the mirror and get anxious, but try to stay relaxed.
