What medicine is good for uterine fibroids

Due to physiological reasons, women's reproductive organs are more vulnerable to diseases than men's. Even some women may still suffer reproductive damage even if they do not have sex. For example, common uterine fibroids is such a disease. Moreover, if uterine fibroids are not treated in a timely manner, it may even lead to female infertility in the later stages. Therefore, patients are advised to receive timely treatment.

Even if uterine fibroids are benign tumors, they still have the possibility of becoming cancerous. For this disease, only active treatment is the best way to get rid of it, especially for women who have not given birth, they should pay attention to treatment. So, what medicine is good for treating uterine fibroids?

Hormone antagonists. In recent years, research has shown that the occurrence of uterine fibroids is not only related to estrogen, but also to progesterone. Therefore, a progesterone antagonist has been developed to treat fibroids. Mifepristone is taken orally at 5 mg twice a day for one course of treatment. It has mild side effects of hot flashes and discomfort in small joints, which disappear after stopping the drug. Because it is a new drug, it is still on trial application.

Androgen. 5 mg of methyltestosterone, taken sublingually twice a day for 20 days per month, or 25 mg of testosterone propionate, injected intramuscularly once every 5 days until the onset of menstruation, then injected intramuscularly 25 mg daily for 3 consecutive days. The total amount per month should not exceed 300 mg. Although treatment with male hormones has certain therapeutic effects, it has the side effect of masculinization and patients often cannot persist in taking the medicine.

Generally speaking, there are many requirements for uterine fibroids to be treated with drugs, and not all patients can be treated with drugs for uterine fibroids. Therefore, female friends who choose medication to treat uterine fibroids must find out their physical condition and then treat them accordingly, otherwise the effect will be counterproductive. Generally, surgical treatment is recommended for patients with fibroids larger than 2 cm.

After knowing what medicine is good for uterine fibroids, it is also recommended that all female friends should pay attention to their physical condition. If you have dysmenorrhea and other symptoms for a long time, it is best to do a targeted examination to see if it is caused by some disease. You should know that uterine fibroids can also cause dysmenorrhea.
