Can I get pregnant with adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis is a very common female disease and is not limited by age or sexual life. In other words, whether or not you have had sexual life, you are likely to develop adenomyosis. For female friends who often suffer from dysmenorrhea, it is important to make an examination to see if they have adenomyosis, the typical symptoms of which are dysmenorrhea and enlarged uterus. So, is it possible to get pregnant with adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis can be mild or severe depending on the symptoms. If the condition is not particularly serious, it will not affect future fertility. However, if the symptoms are severe, it may lead to infertility.

Causes of infertility due to adenomyosis 1

When fibroids grow toward the surface of the uterus and protrude from it, they are called subserosal uterine fibroids. They are often connected to the surface of the uterus by a pedicle. This type of fibroid has little effect on conception and is easy to remove surgically. However, when they grow to a certain size, compression symptoms appear, which will affect the smooth progress of delivery.

Causes of infertility due to adenomyoma of the uterus 2.

This type of fibroid is called a submucosal fibroid and causes many symptoms, the most common of which are increased menstrual periods and vaginal discharge, which can have a foul odor when infected. When submucosal fibroids grow near the internal opening of the fallopian tube or in the upper half of the uterine cavity, they often affect the passage of sperm and prevent the fertilized egg from implanting and developing. This type of fibroid can be diagnosed through vaginal examination, diagnostic curettage, hysteroscopy, hysterography or B-ultrasound. All submucosal fibroids diagnosed should be surgically removed. Generally, no laparotomy is required and the tumor can be removed through hysteroscopy or vaginal removal.

Causes of infertility due to adenomyoma 3.

Fibroids are confined to the uterine muscle wall and are called intramural fibroids, accounting for 60% to 70% of fibroids. It not only affects conception but also often causes miscarriage or premature birth. Usually, these three types of fibroids grow together to form multiple fibroids or a combination of them, and are less likely to be single.

After knowing the answer to whether you can get pregnant with adenomyosis, if you do not have the above-mentioned factors of uterine fibroids and infertility, it will generally not affect your fertility. I hope you don’t worry too much. However, in order to prevent adenomyosis from continuing to harm your uterus, timely treatment is the best way to get rid of the harm of the disease.
