What is Trichomonas

The country now attaches great importance to the physical health of women and provides women with several free gynecological examinations every year. During the examination, it is often heard that the doctor says to the subject, "You have vaginal trichomoniasis." Many drug instructions also state that they can treat trichomoniasis. Is trichomoniasis a kind of worm as the name suggests? Many people don’t know what trichomoniasis is. The following is an introduction to trichomoniasis.

Trichomonas is indeed a small worm with flagella. It cannot be seen with the naked eye. According to information, it can only be seen under a microscope. It is generally transmitted through sexual intercourse. Trichomonas, also known as leucorrhea trichomoniasis, is generally common in women between the ages of 30 and 50.

When a woman is infected with Trichomonas, her vagina will produce yellow-green foamy or rice bran-like discharge with a foul odor. Sometimes she will have symptoms of vulvar itching or mild pain in the lower abdomen. In severe cases, it will cause swelling, redness, and congestion of the vaginal mucosa, resulting in extreme vaginal itching.

A small number of male patients may have urethral discharge, occasional mild itching, lower back pain and other symptoms, but most male patients infected with Trichomonas do not have very obvious symptoms, so men often become carriers of Trichomonas vaginalis.

The long-term presence of Trichomonas vaginalis in the vagina can damage the cervix and cause repeated inflammation of the cervix, which in the long run may lead to the risk of cervical cancer. The itching in the crotch and other physical symptoms caused by Trichomonas infection have a great impact on the patient's life. Therefore, if you feel any discomfort, seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Trichomonas vaginalis is a completely sexually transmitted disease. People who do not have sexual intercourse are almost immune to infection. In contrast, people with multiple sexual partners are very susceptible to infection. Trichomonas vaginalis is clinically treated with Flagyl. It should be noted that the patient's sexual partners must also be treated to avoid cross-infection.

In addition to being transmitted through sexual intercourse, Trichomonas can also be transmitted indirectly through public baths and public toilets. Everyone must maintain good hygiene in daily life, pay attention to personal hygiene and menstrual hygiene; do not share swimsuits and bathing utensils; it is recommended to use showers in public bathrooms; use public toilets with caution. Wash your hands when you go home.
