Acute myelitis

Acute myelitis

Acute myelitis is mainly caused by various reasons that lead to some data, some water accumulation and some damage, which is called acute myelitis. The main symptoms are heterosexual inflammatory necrosis. Because the disease is relatively urgent and the mechanism cannot be corrected, there will always be some pain and numbness. With shock and some breathing difficulties and some speech disorders, so if such symptoms are found in daily life, they must be treated in time.

A diet that suits you ensures a balanced diet with comprehensive nutrition. Pay attention to eating a light diet. In life, you must actively prevent rheumatoid arthritis and some other types of diseases, prevent some drug infections and other diseases. Therefore, in daily life, you must prevent infections and other vascular diseases.

The disease has an acute onset, often with back pain, a feeling of tightness in the chest and abdomen, and numbness in the lower limbs, followed by rapid appearance of motor, sensory, and bowel and bladder dysfunction below the level of spinal cord damage, which usually peaks within hours to days. 70% to 75% occur in the thoracic spinal cord, followed by the cervical and lumbar spinal cord, and the sacral spinal cord is the least common. Due to different causes, the level, extent and severity of spinal cord damage vary.

The initial symptoms are often spinal shock and slow paralysis. After 3 to 4 weeks, the paralysis becomes spastic and muscle strength begins to recover gradually from distal to proximal. The length of the shock period is related to the degree of spinal cord damage and the number of complications. In a small number of patients whose spinal cord softens and necrosis occurs due to blood supply disorders, their limbs will remain in a state of long-term spastic paralysis after the shock period, and the prognosis is poor.

The sensory disturbance is of the conduction bundle type, and all sensations below the level of the lesion are reduced or disappeared. Some people have 1 to 2 segments of sensory hypersensitivity areas or band-like sensory abnormalities above the area of sensory disappearance. In addition, due to the different locations of the lesions, there may be symptoms of hemisection of the spinal cord. Very few people have no sensory impairment.

Urinary and fecal retention occurs in the early stages of this disease. The shock period is mainly characterized by overflow urinary incontinence. Later, as the spinal cord function recovers, the bladder detrusor muscle will experience rhythmic contractions, and 50% of patients will recover their urination function within 2 to 3 weeks. Other autonomic nervous system symptoms include dry skin, no sweating, low skin temperature, brittle nails, Horner's sign, etc.

Partial spinal cord damage can progress rapidly from lower segments to higher levels. Paralysis begins from the lower limbs within hours to days, and then affects the waist, chest, and neck in turn, and finally affects the medulla oblongata, causing difficulty breathing, coughing when drinking water, and inability to speak. This is called ascending myelitis, and the prognosis is poor. A small number of lesions involve the spinal cord membrane or spinal nerve roots, resulting in meningeal irritation signs.

The above are the symptoms of acute myelitis. Because the disease is relatively urgent and the mechanism cannot be ignored, there will be some pain and numbness. With shock and some breathing difficulties and speech difficulties, all kinds of senses will decrease or disappear. To ensure a comprehensive and balanced diet, you must pay attention to a light diet. In life, you must actively prevent rheumatoid arthritis and some other types of diseases.
