Types of whooping cough vaccines

Types of whooping cough vaccines

Whooping cough vaccine is a vaccine injected against the acute respiratory infectious disease caused by Bordetella pertussis. Generally, patients with whooping cough will have paroxysmal coughs. Some people do not know this and think it is just an ordinary cough, so they take some medicine to treat themselves. This is very unscientific. Therefore, by getting the whooping cough vaccine in advance, you can avoid the disease to a large extent.

Whooping cough vaccines mostly occur in children , so parents with children at home should pay attention to their babies' health. There are different types of pertussis vaccines, the main ones are as follows.

1. Adsorbed pertussis vaccine, diphtheria and tetanus toxoids mixed preparation (adsorbed diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus toxoids): It is made of pertussis vaccine concentrate, refined diphtheria and tetanus toxoids adsorbed with aluminum hydroxide. Each milliliter contains 8 potency units (8EU, equivalent to approximately 4.5 billion to 9 billion bacteria) of pertussis bacteria, 20 flocculent units (LF) of refined diphtheria toxoid, and 5LF of refined tetanus toxoid.

2. Adsorbed acellular pertussis vaccine, diphtheria and tetanus toxoids mixed preparation (adsorbed acellular diphtheria and tetanus): It is made by adsorbing acellular pertussis vaccine concentrate, refined diphtheria and tetanus toxoids with aluminum hydroxide. Each milliliter contains 15-18ugPN of acellular pertussis antigen, 25-30LF of refined diphtheria toxoid, and 7-14LF of refined tetanus toxoid.

3. Adsorbed pertussis vaccine and diphtheria toxoid mixed preparation (adsorbed pertussis): It is made by adsorbing pertussis vaccine concentrate and refined diphtheria toxoid with aluminum hydroxide. Each milliliter of vaccine contains 8EV of pertussis bacteria and 20LF of refined diphtheria toxoid.

Its main vaccination targets are adsorbed DPT and adsorbed acellular DPT for children aged 3 months to 6 years old for full immunization, and adsorbed DPT for children under 6 years old as booster immunization after full immunization. Generally, after receiving this vaccine, local redness, swelling, pain, hot flashes, headaches, etc. are likely to occur, but these usually disappear on their own without any treatment.

The above is an introduction to the whooping cough vaccine. If you find that your child always coughs frequently, you should consider whether he or she has whooping cough. It is best to go to the hospital for some examinations, so that you can determine whether there is a problem with your child. Finally, I would like to remind everyone that it is best to see a doctor as early as possible. If you just endure the condition, it will only make the situation worse.
