Can astigmatism be cured?

In addition to common problems such as myopia and hyperopia, another problem that affects people's vision is astigmatism. Many myopic friends also have astigmatism. In fact, the so-called astigmatism means that the things you see have double images, so you can't see the specific shape clearly. This is the so-called astigmatism, and astigmatism is more difficult to correct than myopia. So, can astigmatism be cured?

There are actually different types of astigmatism, which are divided into different types according to different vision problems. The most common types are regular astigmatism and irregular astigmatism. However, no matter what it is, once it is discovered, you must pay attention to active treatment.

The symptoms of astigmatism are difficulty in seeing far or near, eye swelling, headache, skipped lines or double vision when working at close range for a long time. Fundus examination showed that the visual head was oval in shape, with poor edge definition and inconsistent blurring of the upper and lower and lateral edges. Irregular astigmatism is a phenomenon of random refraction caused by the uneven surface of the cornea. Regular astigmatism refers to the inconsistency of the refractive power of the two mutually perpendicular main diameters of the cornea, which makes the refracted light unable to form a focus and become a focal line.

Treatment method for myopic astigmatism: Regular astigmatism can be corrected with a cylindrical lens or a spherical and cylindrical lens of appropriate power after retinoscopy. Irregular astigmatism can be corrected by wearing contact lenses. Laser surgery can also correct astigmatism below 600 degrees.

Astigmatism cannot be treated with medication, and the most common method is to wear cylindrical lenses to correct it. Surgery can also be considered for high astigmatism, but it usually cannot be completely corrected. Generally speaking, adults may feel dizzy when wearing astigmatism glasses in the early stage, so doctors will recommend a smaller degree than the actual degree to reduce the dizziness. However, for children, doctors recommend that they get the necessary degree of correction. Generally speaking, most people have astigmatism of less than 50 degrees. The symptoms of mild astigmatism do not cause a major impact on life and are not so obvious. Therefore, most people do not seek special treatment or correction.

This article will stop here to introduce the question of whether astigmatism can be cured. For friends with astigmatism, if you are over 18 years old and your vision will not change much, it is recommended that you use laser surgery for treatment. It can be treated together with myopia. After treatment, astigmatism can be completely cured.
