Causes of heartburn

Causes of heartburn

Heartburn is a condition that many of our friends have encountered. People with gastrointestinal diseases are particularly prone to heartburn, and in many cases, the western medicine they take can only relieve the symptoms, which is usually only effective at the time. If the cause of the heartburn is not found out and targeted treatment is not carried out, the disease will recur, causing great pain to the patient and affecting the patient's life.

Because heartburn is a symptom caused by gastrointestinal discomfort, patients often confuse it with many disease symptoms. In order to better treat their own diseases, they must pay attention to distinguishing the differences between their symptoms. So, what is the specific cause of heartburn?

1. Eating too fast or too much. Experts point out that the most common cause of heartburn is eating too fast or too much. Some people also experience heartburn after eating certain specific foods, such as alcohol, chili peppers, etc.

2. Caused by gastrointestinal diseases. Mainly acute and chronic gastritis, bile reflux gastritis, gastric ulcer, reflux esophagitis, etc., can all cause heartburn.

3. In addition, there are some other factors in life, such as work or study pressure, bad mood, frequent irritability and anger, which can cause heartburn.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the causes of heartburn are:

1. Damp-heat in the spleen and stomach

The stomach is the sea of water and grain, and is responsible for receiving food. All water and grain enter the stomach first. If it is exposed to cold or heat, it will be accumulated in the middle burner. If a person drinks too much, it will turn into heat and produce dampness. If the dampness and heat last for a long time, it will damage the spleen and stomach, and the middle palace will feel a burning sensation as if it were burned by fire.

2. Yin deficiency and internal heat

If a person's spleen and stomach disease lasts for a long time, or if the seven emotions are injured, the depression will turn into fire, and the depressed fire will hurt the yin, causing yin deficiency and internal heat, and the five internal organs will be tormented and the yin fluid will be insufficient, then there will be a burning sensation in the heart.

3. Injury caused by hot objects

Eating too much hot food, drinking too much alcohol, or eating too fast can damage the esophagus and stomach, and may also cause physical damage, resulting in a burning or piercing sensation when eating. The course of this disease is generally short and the patient can recover quickly through diet and drug treatment.

Now that you know the causes of heartburn, in order to avoid it as much as possible, you must be careful not to lie down immediately after a meal, and drink less coffee and other stimulating drinks and foods, and try to avoid eating before going to bed at night. Only in this way can you fully protect your stomach and reduce the occurrence of heartburn.
