What to do if you have difficulty falling asleep due to insomnia

1. Liver depression turns into fire

Symptoms: Insomnia accompanied by irritability, headache, red eyes, bitter taste in the mouth, pain in the ribs, yellow urine, and constipation.

Treatment: Gentian and Bamboo Leaf Porridge - 10 grams of gentian, 15 grams of bamboo leaves, and 100 grams of white rice. First boil gentian and bamboo leaves in water, filter the juice and set aside. Add water to white rice and cook into porridge. Add the medicinal juice when it is half cooked and cook until the rice is soft and the porridge is thick. Add appropriate amount of rock sugar for seasoning and take it instead of breakfast.

2. Phlegm-heat internal disturbance

Symptoms: Insomnia accompanied by heavy head, chest tightness, excessive phlegm, aversion to food and belching.

Treatment: Bamboo juice porridge - 30 grams of light bamboo juice and 100 grams of corn (millet). First cook the rice into porridge, add bamboo juice when it is almost done, stir well, and take it instead of breakfast.

3. Yin deficiency and excessive fire

Symptoms: restlessness and insomnia, dizziness and tinnitus, dry mouth, low back pain, nocturnal emissions, and fever in the five parts of the body.

Treatment: Scrophularia and Lily Congee - 15 grams of Scrophularia, 30 grams of Lily, 15 grams of Albizzia julibrissin bark, and 100 grams of polished rice. First boil the above three herbs in water, extract the juice, add rice to cook porridge, and eat it for breakfast in the morning.

4. Deficiency of Heart and Gallbladder Qi

Symptoms: Insomnia accompanied by palpitations, frequent dreams, and easy awakening.

Treatment: Chinese jujube kernel porridge - 20 grams of fried Chinese jujube kernel, 30 grams of oyster, 30 grams of dragon bone, and 100 grams of polished rice. First, fry the Chinese jujube seeds, oysters, and dragon bones, filter the juice, and set aside. Add glutinous rice to water and cook into porridge. When it is half cooked, add the medicinal juice and cook until the porridge is thick. Eat it for breakfast.

5. Deficiency of both heart and spleen

Symptoms: frequent dreams and easy awakening, palpitations, forgetfulness, fatigue, tasteless food, and pale complexion.

Treatment: Lotus seed and longan porridge - 50 grams of lotus seed meat, 30 grams of longan meat, and 60 grams of glutinous rice. Add water and cook into porridge, and eat it for breakfast.

From this we can see that there are different treatments for insomnia caused by different reasons. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is mainly improved by taking Chinese medicine or diet therapy. It is best not to rely on medication for sleep for a long time, otherwise your nerves will become dependent on the medication, and long-term medication will also damage your nerves.
