Symptoms of Hepatitis A

Symptoms of Hepatitis A

We often hear people say that the five internal organs of the human body are important organs, but many people cannot understand what they mainly refer to. In fact, the five internal organs of the human body mainly include the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys. These are all important organs in our body. Among these important organs, the liver plays an important role in our body's metabolism, biological transformation, bile secretion and other functions.

Although the liver plays an important role in our body's metabolism, if the liver becomes diseased, it is generally difficult for us to detect it in the early stages due to its relatively inner location in the human body. There are many causes of liver disease, such as hepatitis A and hepatitis B. In recent years, the incidence of hepatitis A has been increasing. Let us learn about it below.

Hepatitis A is a common intestinal infectious disease caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection. It is more common in children and adolescents. The general incubation period is 2 to 6 weeks. The disease is clinically divided into four types: acute icteric type, acute anicteric type, cholestatic type and severe type. The course of the disease is 2-4 months. Winter and spring are the peak seasons for hepatitis A incidence.

Clinical symptoms of hepatitis A

Hepatitis A clinically manifests itself as an acute onset with symptoms such as chills, fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, indigestion, loss of appetite, nausea, fatigue, hepatomegaly and abnormal liver function. When it first occurs, it is often mistaken for a cold and easily ignored, which delays the disease and causes outbreaks or epidemics. About 83% of hepatitis A patients have fever (mostly between 38℃ and 39℃), with an average fever lasting 3 days, but 15% of patients have fever for more than 5 days. 90% of patients have jaundice and severe gastrointestinal symptoms. ALT elevation is large, with 800IU/L-2000IU/L accounting for 55%.

The above is the incidence of hepatitis A. We can see that the symptoms of hepatitis A patients are actually similar to those of a cold, and are not obvious in the early stages of the disease. Many people do not take it seriously, and by the time they discover it, they have missed the best time for treatment. Therefore, when we feel unwell, we should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time to avoid missing the best treatment time for the disease.
