Testicles always shrink

Testicles always shrink

The testicles are an important organ for males to store semen, and the male testicles are mainly located at the bottom of the penis. If there is a problem with the testicles, it will affect a man's normal fertility. Therefore, male friends should pay attention to the care of the testicles while paying attention to the protection of the penis. People who have had mumps in the past are more likely to suffer from testicular contraction. So if a man always feels that his testicles are constantly contracting, what should he do?

Orchiatrophy refers to a disease in which the male testicles become smaller and flaccid, also known as "testicular atrophy". It is characterized by unilateral or bilateral testicular atrophy, and the testicles are small and soft. This disease can cause infertility in most cases, mostly secondary to mumps or trauma, but some are congenital. Treatment should be directed at the underlying disorder.

Causes and common diseases

1. Disease

Varicocele accounts for about 30% to 40% of male infertility. Varicocele can sometimes cause testicular atrophy. The testicles of infertile men with severe varicocele generally atrophy. The reasons why varicocele causes testicular atrophy may be stasis of the spermatic vein, higher than normal scrotal temperature, testicular nutritional disorders and toxins.

2. Infection

Infection is an important cause of testicular atrophy, the most common of which is viral orchitis caused by mumps. If the disease occurs after puberty, orchitis complicated by mumps can cause severe local inflammatory reaction, and excessive fluid may accumulate in the hydrocele, namely acute hydrocele. Smallpox, chickenpox, measles, influenza, and other similar infections can occasionally cause secondary orchitis.

Viral infections are the most common cause of testicular atrophy in children and adolescents, especially mumps virus. When the testicles are attacked by this virus, the spermatogenic tissue in the testicles will be destroyed, the testicles will shrink in size and become soft.

3. Injury

If there has been an impact injury to the scrotum or testicles, causing scrotal hematoma or testicular laceration, even if the wound heals, the testicles will be in a state of insufficient blood supply for a long time and will atrophy.

4. Inflammation

Severe orchitis causes testicular swelling and pain, which can last for several days. The invasion of bacteria causes the destruction of testicular tissue, leading to atrophy of testicular tissue.

5. Radioactive Materials

Anyone who is exposed to radioactive substances for a long time, such as those who work with X-rays or isotopes for a long time, will develop testicular atrophy if they do not take good protection.

6. Endocrine diseases

The testicle is an endocrine organ that mainly produces androgens. Diseases in many endocrine organs in the body, such as the pituitary gland, adrenal glands, and hypothalamus, can interfere with testicular function and cause testicular atrophy.

7. Medication

Long-term use of certain toxic drugs, such as arsenic, or repeated use of estrogen drugs that fight androgens, such as ethidol, can cause testicular atrophy.
