Treatment for laryngitis

Treatment for laryngitis

The throat is a very important part of the human body. Breathing and swallowing of food require the help of the throat, but sometimes laryngitis may occur without paying attention. Generally, laryngitis patients will experience various inflammations after the illness, such as itching in the throat, difficulty swallowing, and vomiting, which seriously affect the patient's normal life.

Another symptom that laryngitis patients will show is that their speech begins to become hoarse. Basically, the voice they speak is no longer their original voice, and speaking seems to be very difficult. The damage to the patient's vocal tract is also very serious.

Acute laryngitis is an acute inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa. The disease initially starts as a viral infection, and then bacteria take advantage of the opportunity to invade and cause a secondary bacterial infection. It manifests as mucosal congestion and submucosal infiltration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes; in severe cases, exudate accumulates to form edema, and the mucosal surface is covered with viscous secretions and may form a pseudomembrane. Chronic laryngitis is often caused by uncured acute laryngitis. It is a chronic nonspecific inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa and the main cause of hoarseness. The main symptoms are hoarseness and throat discomfort.

Systemic treatment: Patients with severe conditions and obvious systemic symptoms should rest properly and be given antibiotics (penicillin, cephalosporin or sulfonamides) and hormones (prednisone 5-10 mg, three times a day). Patients should abstain from smoking and drinking, eat no irritating foods, and talk less to help the inflammation subside.

Local treatment: Ultrashort wave therapy, which has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, 1 to 2 times a day, and inhalation of compound benzoin tincture steam, 3 to 4 times a day. Nebulizer inhalation: antibiotic solution plus hormone solution (or add a small amount of adrenaline or 1% ephedrine).

Traditional Chinese medicine: You can use Musk and Ephedra Decoction (9 dried musk, 6 ephedra, 9 almonds, 9 sterculia lychnophora, 6 platycodon, 6 licorice, 5). If there is a lot of phlegm, high fever, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and worsening of the condition, the main treatment is to clear away heat, promote lung function, resolve phlegm and relieve sore throat. Use Qinghou Ningfei Decoction (Platophore 9, Peucedanum 9, Morus alba bark 9, Concha scutellariae 9, Anemarrhena asphodeloides 9, Scutellaria baicalensis 6, Gardenia jasminoides 6, Licorice 3).

Patients with laryngitis still have to endure certain pain during treatment. They may experience pain when swallowing saliva during the illness. Therefore, once patients with laryngitis find that they are ill, they must seek treatment immediately, otherwise it is easy for adjacent organs to become infected one after another.
