Late stage cirrhosis

Late stage cirrhosis

If cirrhosis can be treated promptly in the early stages, it will not pose a threat to the patient's life. However, if cirrhosis develops to the late stages, it may lead to ascites. At this time, the liver cells have been completely destroyed, and the liver produces abnormal liver cells. The liver's function no longer exists, so it will affect the patient's life.

It can be seen from this that when cirrhosis develops to the late stage, patients must pay attention to active treatment. Only in this way can the patient's life be prolonged and the pain brought to the patient by late cirrhosis be reduced. So, what are the symptoms of late-stage liver cirrhosis?

1. Symptoms of late-stage liver cirrhosis: Sex hormone disorders may cause breast swelling and testicular shrinkage. The liver plays an important role in the balance of sex hormones in the human blood. Due to the increase in estrogen and decrease in androgen in the late stage of cirrhosis, men may experience enlarged and tender breasts and testicular atrophy. For women, sex hormones are disrupted during cirrhosis, and the late-stage symptoms of cirrhosis can also cause menstrual disorders, breast shrinkage, and sparse pubic hair.

2. In a minority of patients with late-stage cirrhosis, spider nevi and mild to moderate enlargement of the liver may be seen, which are more common in patients with alcoholic cirrhosis and are generally painless. The spleen may be normal or slightly enlarged.

3. Systemic symptoms: mainly fatigue, easy tiredness, and decreased physical strength. A small number of patients may experience facial pigmentation. In addition, what are the symptoms of late-stage liver cirrhosis?

4. Symptoms of chronic indigestion: decreased appetite, abdominal distension or accompanied by constipation, diarrhea or dull pain in the liver area, which is more obvious after fatigue. This is one of the common symptoms of late-stage liver cirrhosis.

5. Thin and dark face. More than one-third of patients with chronic hepatitis or cirrhosis have darker skin on their face and around their eyes than before the disease. This is due to decreased liver function, which leads to increased melanin production.

For patients with cirrhosis, if you find yourself having symptoms similar to those in the late stage of cirrhosis, please be sure to be hospitalized for treatment, and pay attention to good care, eat a reasonable diet, eat more easily digestible foods, and pay attention to the patient's psychological counseling, do not let the patient's will become too depressed, which will only affect the patient's treatment.
