I believe many people have had similar symptoms, that is, after getting up in the morning, they feel their throat is particularly dry and they want to drink water, and sometimes they have phlegm and they want to cough but can't. In severe cases, you may even feel nausea and dry heaving, which is extremely uncomfortable. You should pay attention at this time, as this may be a symptom of atrophic pharyngitis. Of course, what exactly the disease is can only be known after going to the hospital for examination. Speaking of atrophic pharyngitis, you may feel unfamiliar with it, but pharyngitis should not be unfamiliar to everyone, because the incidence of pharyngitis is still very high, and many people suffer from chronic or acute pharyngitis. So what is atrophic pharyngitis and what are its causes and treatments? Atrophic pharyngitis often occurs secondary to atrophic rhinitis. Its cause is unknown and it is rare in clinical practice. The main pathological changes are atrophy of pharyngeal glands and mucosa. Initially, the secretion of mucous glands decreases and the secretions become viscous. As the submucosa is affected by inflammation, it gradually becomes organized and contracts, compressing the mucous glands and blood vessels, hindering gland secretion and nutrient supply, causing the mucosal layer and submucosa to atrophy and become thinner. The disease is long-lasting and difficult to cure. Atrophic patients feel that their throats are dry and drinking water cannot relieve their thirst. Sometimes coughing up smelly dry scabs, bad breath, and nausea. Examination showed that the pharyngeal cavity was wider than normal, and the mucosa was dry, thin, wrinkled or shiny. The posterior pharyngeal wall is covered with purulent dry crusts. In severe cases, it can affect the function of the Eustachian tube, causing tinnitus or hearing loss. If the lesion spreads to the larynx, hoarseness will occur. There are two types of current treatments: 1. General treatment Find out the cause and treat the primary disease. Strengthen exercise, improve physical fitness, supplement vitamins and tissue nutrition drugs, such as intramuscular injection of placental tissue fluid. 2. Local treatment Pharyngeal lavage, ultrasonic atomization inhalation. Applying 2% iodine glycerin can promote glandular secretion and improve local blood circulation to relieve dryness. When applying the medicine, you can use a tightly wrapped long cotton swab to apply the medicine to the mucosa of the posterior pharyngeal wall. Be careful not to use too much medicine or it may drip into the throat and induce coughing. Regular consumption of vitamins A, B2, C, and E can promote the growth of mucosal epithelium. Although the cause of atrophic pharyngitis is unclear, most of them are caused by lifestyle habits, while others are caused by living environment. So while we are busy, we must remember to clean regularly and disinfect our homes regularly if possible. Also, no matter how busy you are, you must ensure that you have three meals a day and develop a normal schedule. Don't stay up late often and don't spend too much time in front of the computer. |
