What does HBcAb positive mean?

HBcAb is the abbreviation of an English name. Its Chinese meaning is hepatitis B core antibody, also known as anti-HBc. It is an immunoglobulin produced by liver cells stimulated by hepatitis B core antigen. HBcAb can be negative or positive (divided into positive and weakly positive). HBcAb is an indicator that must be checked when checking for hepatitis B. Let’s talk specifically about what HBcAb positive means in medicine.

There are three pairs of immunological markers for hepatitis B virus, namely surface antigen (HBsAg) and surface antibody (HBsAb), e antigen (HBeAg) and e antibody (HBeAb), and core antigen (HBcAg) and core antibody (HBcAb). Since the core antigen is not easily detected in the blood, there are still two pairs of hapten antibodies left, which is what we often call the hepatitis B "two pairs and a half", or the well-known "hepatitis B five items".

HBcAb (hepatitis B core antibody) is one of the standards for checking whether people have hepatitis B. It needs to be analyzed together with other indicators. If only HBcAb (hepatitis B core antibody) is positive and other indicators are negative, it means that the person being examined is not currently infected with the hepatitis B virus, but has been infected with the hepatitis B virus, but the hepatitis B virus has been cleared and the hepatitis B has been cured.

However, the body does not produce antibodies to the hepatitis B virus, which means that the person being examined may be re-infected with the hepatitis B virus at any time, so he should go to the hospital in time to get the hepatitis B vaccine. Some of them may not be aware that they have had hepatitis B. The hepatitis B vaccine does not provide lifelong immunity, so even people who have been vaccinated with the hepatitis B vaccine should pay attention to regular liver function tests.

Hepatitis B is a disease that is difficult to treat, so prevention and treatment in daily life is very important. You must develop good food hygiene, not share needles with others, drink less alcohol, eat more fruits and vegetables, strengthen physical exercise, enhance physical fitness, and ensure adequate sleep. This will greatly improve the body's immunity. At the same time, you should maintain a positive and optimistic attitude.
