The knee joint of the human body is the joint most prone to problems, especially for middle-aged and elderly people. Because they usually exert great strength, the knee joint is easily affected, especially the impact on the knee meniscus is more serious. Speaking of meniscus, I believe all of you know that it plays an important role in stabilizing the knee joint. If the meniscus is damaged, it will directly affect the knee joint. Therefore, if the meniscus is injured, patients must pay attention to active treatment, otherwise it will seriously affect people's lives. Many patients with meniscus injuries cannot even walk upright. Conservative treatment is the most common approach to meniscus injury. (1) Tendon relaxation method: The operator uses acupressure to loosen the soft tissue around the knee joint and separate the tendons for 3 to 5 minutes (the prone position can be used on the back of the knee joint). (2) Patellar massage: The surgeon first uses the patellar kneading method on the patella (rub the patella with the thumb, and then scrape the area around the patella). (3) Knee expansion method: The surgeon moves the knee joint several times, places one forearm on the back of the knee joint as a fulcrum, flexes the knee joint as much as possible, then removes the arm used as a fulcrum, and flexes the knee joint directly 2 to 3 times. Normally, meniscus injury is difficult to heal. Once diagnosed, it should be treated promptly according to the severity of the injury. In the past, conservative treatment was often used to relieve the symptoms of knee locking by flexing the calf as much as possible and then straightening it. Injuries to the meniscus blood supply area, especially longitudinal lacerations, can be healed by suture surgery, and the good prognosis of this surgery has been confirmed by many experimental and clinical studies. However, in a 10-year prospective observation, many patients who underwent this surgery were found to have signs of joint degeneration on X-ray, which suggests that the biomechanical function of the repaired damaged meniscus may not have been completely restored. Although conservative treatment of meniscus injury cannot completely cure the disease, it does have a certain therapeutic effect on meniscus injury, and the most important thing is that its side effects are very small. For people, in order to avoid meniscus injuries, they must pay attention to protecting their knees and not overwork them. |
