Symptoms of Melanoma

Symptoms of Melanoma

Melanoma is a type of tumor that is highly malignant and accounts for a large proportion of deaths from skin tumors. Friends who are not familiar with it may not know much about this disease, but friends who have come into contact with it should know that this disease can cause considerable harm to the human body. Although modern medicine has made a lot of progress and we can also introduce advanced equipment from abroad to treat tumors, there are some diseases that cannot be cured by our treatment alone.

There are many treatments for melanoma, including surgery, drug therapy, physical therapy, etc. However, if the disease is treated only when it is very serious, it will be difficult to cure and may even result in death. So if you find yourself suffering from this disease, you must go to the hospital for timely treatment.

Symptoms and signs

If there are melanin spots or moles on the scalp in the affected area, due to repeated stimulation from haircuts, shampooing, itching, or pressure and friction from wearing a hat for a long time, the epidermis will be eroded, the attached hair will fall off, and the area will gradually grow larger and become a tumor.

1. Divided into 2 types according to its morphology

(1) Nodular melanoma: The lesions are nodular and protrude above the skin surface. They are mostly black in color, but can also be brown, blue-black, grayish white, and light red. They are surrounded by a red halo and have a smooth surface. They are polyp-like or cauliflower-like. They develop rapidly and can rupture on their own and bleed. This type of disease metastasizes very early, with warning regional lymph node enlargement, and often metastasizes to organs such as the lungs, brain, and liver. For patients who receive treatment before metastasis, the 5-year survival rate is 50% to 60%.

(2) Superficial melanoma: also known as eczematoid cancer, grows slower and metastasizes later. The 5-year survival rate is 70%.

2. Clinical staging estimates the stage of the disease based on the extent of the primary lesion, the presence of lymph node metastasis, and the presence of distant metastasis as determined by imaging examinations.

(1) Stage I: No regional lymph node metastasis.

(2) Stage II: accompanied by regional lymph node metastasis.

(3) Stage III: with distant metastasis.

For patients, they should also maintain a happy mood during the treatment. Although the disease brings pain to people, they should not give up their yearning and pursuit for a better life because of the disease. In addition to facing the disease proactively, you should also eat more foods rich in vitamins in your diet, which will also help your body recover and fight the disease to the end.
