Dull pain in right buttock

Dull pain in right buttock

There are many reasons for the dull pain in the right buttocks. For example, it may be piriformis syndrome, lumbar disc herniation, or sciatic nerve compression. These symptoms may occur. You should go to the hospital for appropriate examinations in time. After determining the cause, you can use physical therapy, hot compresses, etc. If the condition is serious, you can also use surgery to treat it. You should also pay attention to physical therapy in your daily life.

The harm caused by lumbar disc herniation

1. More than 95% of patients with lumbar disc herniation have this symptom. The patient feels persistent dull pain in the lower back, which is relieved when lying down but aggravated when standing. Sudden severe spasmodic pain in the waist is unbearable and requires bed rest, seriously affecting life and work. 2. Numbness of the lower limbs is often accompanied by pain. A small number of patients may experience simple numbness, and a small number of patients feel coldness or chilliness in their lower limbs. This is mainly due to the stimulation of the sympathetic nerve fibers in the spinal canal. The mechanism and clinical manifestations of intermittent claudication are similar to those of lumbar spinal stenosis, mainly because the pathological and physiological symptoms of secondary lumbar spinal stenosis may occur in the case of nucleus pulposus protrusion. 3. Lumbar disc herniation with a long history of low back and leg pain is often accompanied by degeneration of the posterior joint and bone hyperplasia. On the one hand, lumbar disc herniation and degeneration cause the intervertebral space to narrow and the intervertebral disc to loosen; on the other hand, bone hyperplasia of the superior articular process can further narrow the intervertebral foramen and increase the chance of nerve root compression.

What is the relationship between lumbar disc herniation and nerve compression?

1. The basic cause of lumbar disc herniation is degenerative lesions of the lumbar intervertebral disc. Lumbar trauma and severe strain are both contributing factors. Therefore, after exercise, the bones and back muscles will be healthier and stronger, and the nervous system will be more responsive. However, you must pay attention to your daily exercises and activities. Only accurate and coordinated movements can prevent the lumbar spine from being injured. At the same time, reasonable exercise is conducive to reducing the load on the lumbar spine, thereby preventing the occurrence of lumbar herniation. However, the method of exercise should be determined according to your own body, as long as it is not a strenuous activity. Like Tai Chi or sword dancing.

2. Not only should we pay attention to scientific exercise, but even the correct posture in daily life is beneficial to lumbar spine health. The correct posture can not only improve work efficiency, but also prevent lumbar muscle strain, which is beneficial for delaying intervertebral disc degeneration. 3. For patients with lumbar disc herniation, health care should start with posture. If you still have to work, it is best to slightly bend the hip and knee joints when standing or working, so that the abdomen is naturally retracted. The buttocks muscles on both sides should be contracted inward, the pelvis should be tilted forward, and the lumbar spine should be straightened. If you are someone who sits for a long time at work, you need to adjust the height of the chair so that your knees can flex and extend freely. The upper lumbar vertebrae should be close to the chair back so that the spine can be kept straight. Also, it is best to use a chair with a wide seat, so that at least your thighs have enough space to rest. 4. For people who often bend over when working or patients with lumbar disc herniation who have to lift heavy objects, they can choose a wide belt to enhance the stability of the waist. However, the wide belt can only be used when working, and can be taken off at other times. Whether you are working while standing or sitting, you should not work for too long, because staying in one posture for too long will put pressure on and damage the lumbar spine itself, and the muscles here will not be relieved. When the joints and muscles are very tired, lumbar disc herniation will be more serious.
