If you are splashed by hot oil, hot soup or battery acid, first take off the wet clothes, wash off the grease on your skin, and then soak the injured area in cold water. By lowering the temperature of the affected area, you are halfway to recovery. Cold water can stop the spread of trauma and act as a temporary pain reliever.

Do not use vinegar to treat the affected area. Do not use vinegar, soy sauce, potato peels or honey to treat the affected area. These substances will prevent the burned tissue from dissipating heat and make the situation worse. It may also cause infection. Try using alcohol to dissipate heat and relieve pain. There is a folk method of using alcohol (or white wine) to treat burns, which is said to be quite effective. If your burn is not severe, you may want to try applying rubbing alcohol to the affected area.

Check the extent of the burn Minor first- and second-degree burns (smaller than a coin) can usually be treated by yourself. Larger burns or burns on infants and the elderly should be treated in a hospital. Cover the injured area. Once you have treated the affected area, gently cover it with a clean piece of gauze. You can ignore it and the affected area will heal on its own.

After 24 hours of daily care, gently clean the burned area with soap and water once a day. Cover it with gauze after washing and keep it dry. Never puncture a blister as this may cause infection.

If the blister has broken, clean the wound with disinfectant, apply antibacterial ointment, and ensure the wound is breathable to facilitate wound repair and scabbing. Apply fresh aloe vera juice to the affected area 2-3 days after the burn. It will relieve pain and make your injured area more comfortable. But if you have heart problems, don't use aloe vera.
