Can I touch my belly during early pregnancy?

Finding out that you are pregnant is something that makes most women very happy, but first-time mothers are not very clear about some of the taboos of pregnancy. If you have seen people getting pregnant in daily life or on TV, you will know that women like to touch their bellies after a certain month of pregnancy, as if this helps communicate with the baby. But is it okay to touch a woman's belly during early pregnancy?

Can I touch my belly when I am two months pregnant?

Generally, at 12 weeks of pregnancy, which is 3 months, the enlarged uterus begins to protrude from the pelvic cavity, causing the abdomen to bulge and the belly to appear noticeably larger. But if the pregnant woman is thin or very fat, it will not be very obvious.

It is okay to gently touch your belly and it will not cause uterine contractions. However, if you caress in one direction for a long time, it can induce uterine contractions, so don't caress for a long time. Generally speaking, it has nothing to do with the umbilical cord. Touching the belly is also a way to communicate with children. As long as you don’t touch it too hard, it will not affect the child. Every child likes the caress of his parents, and the unborn baby is no exception. Children who are often loved by their parents will be calmer and more responsive when they grow up. Fetal education through touch is the earliest tactile communication between expectant parents and the fetus. By touching the expectant mother's abdomen, the baby in the belly can feel the presence of the parents and respond.

How to touch your belly correctly when you are pregnant

1. Back and forth stroking method

When the expectant mother's abdomen is completely relaxed, she can use her hands to stroke it back and forth from top to bottom and from left to right. In your mind, you can imagine that your hands are really caressing the cute baby, feeling a sense of joy and happiness, and thinking affectionately: "Little baby, mommy really loves you", "Little baby feels so comfortable", etc.

2. Light touch, pressure and tapping method. Implementation month: After 4 months of pregnancy, you can perform gentle touching, pressing and patting exercises in addition to touching. Specific method: The expectant mother lies flat on her back and relaxes her abdomen. First, she strokes her abdomen from top to bottom and from left to right with her hands, and gently presses and lifts with her fingers. Then, she gently presses and pats to give the fetus tactile stimulation. Generally, after a few weeks of persistence, the fetus will respond, such as slight body movement, turning of hands and feet, etc.

3. After 9 months of pregnancy, due to the further development of the fetus, the pregnant woman or her husband can clearly feel the fetal head, back and limbs on the pregnant woman's abdominal wall with their hands. You can gently stroke the fetus's head, stroke the baby's back regularly, or gently stroke the child's limbs. When the fetus can feel the stimulation of touch, it will prompt the baby to respond accordingly. The order of touching can start from the head, then along the back to the buttocks to the limbs. It should be gentle and orderly, which is beneficial to the development of the fetus's sensory system, nervous system and brain.
