Can I take a shower after getting the rabies vaccine?

Everyone knows that if you are bitten or scratched by a dog, cat or other animal, you must get a rabies vaccine because this is the only way to avoid the occurrence of rabies. So, why do we need to get rabies vaccine? In fact, being bitten by an animal can cause rabies, and the incidence of rabies is very high, and the mortality rate after the onset of the disease is 100%. Therefore, if you are injured by an animal, you must get a rabies vaccine.

In fact, rabies vaccine is almost 100% effective in preventing rabies, so it is a very effective vaccine. For many people, they know that they should get a rabies vaccine after being bitten, but they also need to understand that there are some precautions during and after the injection. Let’s find out whether you can take a shower after getting the rabies vaccine.

Do not take a shower or do strenuous exercise within 24 hours after vaccination. You are not allowed to take a shower for fear that the needle hole will come into contact with water and cause inflammation, or you are afraid that you will catch a cold after sweating during strenuous exercise. If you catch a cold, the white blood cells in your body will conflict with the vaccine and it will not be absorbed well. In fact, the needle hole will heal automatically two hours after intramuscular injection, and you can take a shower. Just be careful not to touch the needle hole.

Precautions for rabies vaccination:

(1) If the product is found to have clots that cannot be shaken apart or discoloration, or if the ampoule is cracked, or if the liquid vaccine has been frozen, it must not be used.

(2) Vaccines should be used within their validity period.

(3) You can work as usual during the vaccination period, but avoid consuming irritating foods such as alcohol and strong tea, or engaging in strenuous labor to avoid causing reactions.

(4) For those who are seriously bitten, anti-rabies serum must be used in combination.

(5) Have 1:1000 epinephrine on standby.

It should be noted here that if a pregnant woman is bitten by an animal, she also needs to receive vaccination. If you are afraid of harming the baby, please seek guidance from a professional doctor. In addition, if it is 6 months after vaccination, you should get vaccinated again. If it is 3 to 5 months, you also need to get vaccinated again, but the dosage can be reduced.
