Acute mumps symptoms

Acute mumps symptoms

Mumps is a respiratory infectious disease caused by the mumps virus. Mumps usually occurs in children and adolescents. Mumps is a common disease. If we do not treat mumps in time, it can easily cause many complications. This is a terrible thing. Therefore, we must not only do a good job in preventing mumps, but also actively treat it once we are infected.

Acute mumps usually occurs in winter and spring. The source of infection of acute mumps is the patient, and the transmission route of acute mumps is through droplets. So we can prevent acute mumps by just cutting off the transmission route.

Mumps (epidemic parotitis, mumps) is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by the mumps virus invading the parotid gland. It is a common respiratory infectious disease in children and adolescents. It also occurs in adults and is caused by the mumps virus. The prominent symptom is non-purulent swelling and pain of the parotid gland. The virus can invade various glandular tissues or the nervous system and almost all organs such as the liver, kidneys, heart, and joints. Therefore, it can often cause symptoms such as meningoencephalitis, orchitis, pancreatitis, mastitis, and oophoritis.

swelling

The main symptom of mumps is swelling under one or both earlobes. The swollen parotid gland is often hemispherical, with unclear edges centered on the earlobe.

pain

The surface is warm and tender, and local pain is felt when opening the mouth or chewing. Parotid gland swelling is most obvious 1-3 days after onset, then gradually subsides, and the swelling completely disappears in about 2 weeks.

Course of disease

In the first 3-5 days of the disease, there may be systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue, and unwillingness to eat.

Identification

During diagnosis and treatment, it is necessary to distinguish between parotid gland swelling caused by tumors, other viruses or bacteria.

General treatment

In the early stages of acute suppurative mumps, drug treatment is the main approach; at the same time, methods to stimulate secretion are used to keep saliva secretion flowing smoothly. If the disease lasts for more than a week and enters the suppurative stage, an incision and drainage operation should be performed.

There is no specific treatment for viral mumps. It can be treated with the aforementioned Chinese medicine. If there is a concurrent bacterial infection, antibiotics can be used. Since mumps can cause fever, when the fever is above 39 degrees, you can choose indomethacin suppositories, one or half a suppository each time, depending on the severity of your condition. Or you can choose Sepuda, one bag at a time.

Folk remedies

Use a piece of fresh and juicy cactus, remove the thorns, mash it into a paste, mix it with egg white, and apply it to the affected area. Change it once a day and use it for 2-3 days to cure the disease. This is a method commonly used in rural areas to treat mumps, and it is effective. Cactus has a light taste and cold nature, and can play the role of clearing away heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and relieving pain.

Scramble eggs with 5 grams of snake skin (longyi) without adding salt, eat once a day for 3 consecutive days.

Above we introduced what acute mumps is. We know that acute mumps is a common disease that usually occurs in children and adolescents. Adults can also suffer from acute mumps. The symptoms of acute mumps have been introduced in detail above, you can refer to it.
