Sequelae of head injury

Sequelae of head injury

The head is very important to our human body because it is responsible for many important tasks of our body, so most people will protect their heads well. However, many times, injuries to the head are caused by carelessness or accidents, and they are generally external injuries. However, many people often worry about the sequelae of head injuries after suffering them.

There are sequelae to head injuries, but it does not mean that a person will have sequelae after a head injury. This is unscientific. In fact, for most of us, there is no need to consider this issue, because most people will not have sequelae of head injuries. But this does not rule out special circumstances. So, let’s talk specifically about the sequelae of head injuries.

The sequelae of brain trauma, also known as post-traumatic brain syndrome, is a group of autonomic dysfunction or mental symptoms that persist for a long time in patients with brain trauma after the recovery period. These include headaches, nervousness, irritability, difficulty concentrating, memory problems, dizziness, insomnia, fatigue and other symptoms. Neurological examinations were unremarkable and neuroradiological examinations were unremarkable. If this group of symptoms persists for more than 3 months after the brain injury without improvement, it is called post-traumatic brain syndrome. Symptoms of sequelae of brain trauma: Headache: It is the most common symptom, which can be sharp pain, dull pain, or throbbing pain, and can occur in the entire head, forehead, or occipital area. Pain in the occipital area is often accompanied by pain and tightness in the muscles behind the neck.

The time of headache onset is uncertain and may be aggravated by bad mood, fatigue, insomnia, and thus cause anxiety. Dizziness: Symptoms vary, including lightheadedness, tinnitus, and nausea, which are aggravated by changes in body position. Nervousness and irritability are also common, usually caused by stressful environmental factors. In addition, memory loss, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, intellectual impairment, insomnia, etc. may be the result of psychological factors. Autonomic dysfunction: manifested as palpitations, blood pressure fluctuations, sweating, menstrual disorders, sexual dysfunction, etc. Symptoms after a brain injury are sometimes related to the site of the injury. There are fewer symptoms after frontal injury; more than half of patients with temporal injury experience dizziness and memory impairment; while difficulty concentrating, nervousness, and fatigue are more common in patients with top trauma. According to the characteristics of the injury, craniocerebral injury can be divided into local injury and diffuse injury. There are obvious differences between the two in terms of injury factors, injury mechanisms and pathological manifestations. In addition, craniocerebral injury can be divided into primary brain injury and secondary brain injury according to the time when the brain injury occurs, and the two have different pathological manifestations.

To sum up, I believe most people should have learned about the sequelae of head injuries, and common sequelae of head injuries generally include: headache, nervousness, irritability, inattention, memory loss, dizziness and insomnia, etc. These are some of the more common sequelae of head injuries. So when our friends experience these conditions after a head injury, it is best to go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
