The seven orifices connect the five internal organs, and the changes of the seven orifices can tell your health

A common plot in movies and TV shows is death due to bleeding from all seven orifices. Do you know which parts of the body the seven orifices refer to? The seven orifices are two eyes, two ears, nose, mouth, and tongue. Our body is an interconnected whole. The seven orifices are connected to the five internal organs. Changes in the seven orifices will directly reflect the health of the five internal organs.

The heart opens to the tongue

“The heart’s qi is connected to the tongue. When the heart is harmonious, the tongue can taste the five flavors.” In fact, sufficient heart energy not only ensures that the tongue can distinguish the five flavors, but also ensures that the tongue can move flexibly and speech can flow smoothly, which also depends on the health of the mind. Generally speaking, a rosy tongue indicates that the heart has sufficient Qi and blood.

The heart controls blood vessels, and the blood vessels on the tongue are the most abundant and superficial, so the tongue can sensitively reflect the functional state of the heart. If the heart yang is insufficient, the tongue will be plump and tender or purple. If the heart yin is insufficient, the tongue will be red. If the heart blood is deficient, the tongue will be dull. If the heart fire is inflamed, the tongue will be red, rotten, and painful. If the heart blood is blocked, the tongue will be purple or have bruises. If the heart's main mental function is abnormal, there will be language disorders and slurred speech.

The kidney opens to the ear

“When the kidney qi flows to the ears and the kidneys are in harmony, one can hear the five tones.” In other words, those with sufficient kidney qi will have good hearing. In terms of pathology, if the kidney essence is deficient, the brain marrow will be insufficient, and symptoms such as dizziness, tinnitus, and hearing loss may easily occur. Patients with kidney yin deficiency also often have a buzzing sound in their ears.

In addition, aging symptoms such as hearing loss and deafness in the elderly are also closely related to their weak kidney qi. Therefore, people with poor hearing may consider replenishing their kidney qi.

The liver opens to the eyes

The quality of eyesight depends on the regulation and nutrition of liver qi. According to traditional Chinese medicine, the liver stores blood, and blood is the most direct material basis for eye activity. Therefore, the strength of liver blood will directly affect visual function. If the liver blood is insufficient and the eyes are not nourished, the eyes will be blurred and the vision will be unclear, and problems such as night blindness will occur; if the fire in the liver meridian is strong, the eyes will be red, swollen and painful; if the liver yin is deficient, it can cause blurred and dry eyes, or stiffness of the eyeballs, strabismus, etc.; if the liver qi is stagnant for too long, it can cause bitter taste in the mouth and dizziness.

The lungs open to the nose

"The lung qi flows to the nose. When the lungs are in harmony, the nose can sense fragrance and odor." The lungs control breathing, and the nose is the gateway for breathing in and out. Therefore, if the nose wants to perform normal ventilation and olfactory functions, it must rely on the harmony of lung qi and smooth breathing. In fact, the function of "lungs controlling qi" not only affects breathing, but also provides nutrition to the nose, ensures nasal unobstructedness, and prevents nasal diseases.

Clinically, certain lung disease manifestations are often reflected in the nose. If the external wind and cold affect the lungs, it will cause nasal congestion and runny nose, affecting the sense of smell; if there is dryness and heat in the lungs, the nostrils will be dry and astringent. On the contrary, if the above abnormal changes occur in the nose, lung disease can be inferred.

The spleen opens to the mouth

"The lips are the organ of the spleen." The lips are part of the mouth, and are considered to be the external manifestation of the spleen. When the spleen is healthy and the qi and blood are sufficient, the lips are nourished and the lips are red and moisturized. If the spleen is not healthy and the qi and blood are deficient, the lips are not nourished and the lips are pale or dull and withered.
