"8 Warmth" Health Preservation, Cold Weather, Not Cold for You, Take a Bath Every Day, All Diseases Will Be Driven Away

In the cold winter, the physiological functions of the internal organs decline, metabolism slows down, the body temperature regulation ability is poor, and the ability to tolerate cold decreases. If the elderly neglect self-health care and are attacked by the cold evil, they can easily develop a variety of diseases and affect their physical and mental health. Therefore, if the elderly want to spend the harsh winter safely, they must achieve the "Eight Warmths".

Comb your hair more than a hundred times

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the head is the master of the body, where all yang meet and all meridians are connected. The twelve meridians and eight extraordinary meridians of the human body converge in the head. When the head is hit by cold wind, it is easy for the yang energy to dissipate from the head, causing colds, rhinitis, headaches, toothaches, trigeminal neuralgia and other diseases. Middle-aged and elderly people with hypertension and cerebral arteriosclerosis are also prone to hypertensive crisis, acute myocardial infarction, stroke, etc., which are life-threatening.

Therefore, we must pay attention to keeping our head warm in winter. We should comb our hair more than a hundred times every morning to make our scalp slightly warm, which is beneficial to the smooth flow of qi and blood in the head meridians, promote the rise of all yang, regulate all meridians, and maintain the decline of qi and blood. Wear a hat when going out on windy and snowy days to protect your head from the cold.

Ear warmer: rub the auricle in the morning and evening

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that "the ear is where the main meridians gather" and all twelve meridians pass through the ear. Because the skin of the ear is very thin, the blood vessels of the auricle are superficial, there is less subcutaneous tissue, and there is a lack of protection from subcutaneous fat. If you do not pay attention to protecting your ears, when exposed to cold stimulation, the blood vessels will contract, and ischemia and hypoxia are likely to occur, which can cause frostbite of the ears and cause colds and other diseases.

Therefore, the elderly should pay attention to protecting their ears in winter, wear soft protective earmuffs when going out, and insist on massaging and rubbing the auricles every morning, noon and evening, for about 5 to 10 minutes each time, until they feel warm.

Nasal warming massage for both sides of the nose

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the nose is the orifice of the lungs. If the nose is stimulated by cold, frail elderly people are prone to catching colds. So take good care of your nose in winter. When a cold wave passes through, wear a mask when going out.

Massage the nose once in the morning and before going to bed at night. Rub the outer sides of your thumbs against each other. When you feel heat, use the outer sides of your thumbs to massage up and down along the bridge of your nose and both sides of your nose for about 30 times; then massage the Yingxiang points on both sides of the nose (0.5 cm beside the outer edge of the nose) 15 to 20 times. It can dredge the meridians, enhance local qi and blood circulation, greatly enhance the nose's ability to withstand cold, and effectively prevent colds and nasal diseases.

Wear a scarf when going out to keep your neck warm

The neck is the "fortress" of the human body, supporting the head above and connecting to the torso below. It is not only the most active part of the spine, but also the most important part of the nerve center. It is also the only way for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. If it is exposed to cold, it will not only aggravate cervical spondylosis, but also cause other diseases.

Therefore, it is best to wear stand-up collar clothes in winter and wear a scarf when going out to prevent the blood vessels in the neck from contracting due to the cold wind, which is beneficial for preventing hypertension, cardiovascular disease, etc.

Back warming vest protects Du channel

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the Du meridian is the main trunk running through the back, governing the body's yang energy. "The back is the yang among yang" and is the "sea of yang meridians." If you neglect to keep your back warm, it will be easy to be invaded by wind and cold, which will damage the body's yang energy, lead to a decline in immune function, and cause colds. Middle-aged and elderly people with chronic bronchitis, asthma and other diseases are prone to relapse or worsening of the disease.

Therefore, it is best to wear a cotton vest or wool vest in winter to keep your back warm. On sunny days, you should go outside to bask in the sun and let the sun shine on your back. The warm heat not only makes you feel soothed and comfortable, but is also a panacea for preventing winter depression in the elderly.

Waist Warming and Rub Waist Warming Kidney Yang

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the waist is the home of the kidneys, and the "belt meridian" surrounds the waist. If the waist is exposed to wind and cold, it is easy to cause cold pain in the waist, menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, abnormal leucorrhea and other gynecological diseases in women.

In addition to protecting your waist in winter, you can rub your waist with both hands. After rubbing your hands together until they are warm, press them tightly on the waist, pause for a moment, and then rub them down to the coccyx (Changqiang point). Do this 50 to 100 times each time, once in the morning and once in the evening. It plays the role of warming the kidney yang, promoting the flow of qi and blood, unblocking the belt meridian, and strengthening the waist and spine.

Knee warming exercise should not be excessive

During the coldest days of winter, the continuous cold and huge temperature contrast can cause cold knees, which can lead to contraction of local muscles and blood vessels in the joints, causing joint pain. Middle-aged and elderly people with synovitis or osteoarthritis are more likely to suffer from or aggravate joint diseases.

The key to protecting your knee joints is to keep warm, wear knee pads, and be careful not to over-exercise.

Warm foot bath and massage Yongquan

The feet support the human body and are known as the "second heart". However, the subcutaneous fat layer of the feet is thin, has poor thermal insulation performance, and is far away from the heart, which can easily lead to poor blood circulation. Once the feet are attacked by cold, the nerve reflex will cause the blood vessels in the upper respiratory tract mucosa to contract, blood flow will be reduced, and disease resistance will decrease. Patients with chronic bronchitis, asthma, rheumatic joint pain and other diseases are prone to relapse of old diseases.

Therefore, we should pay attention to keeping our feet warm to prevent "cold starting from the feet". The shoes and socks you wear should be warm, breathable and moisture-absorbent, and the soles should be non-slip. If your feet are warm, your whole body will be warm and comfortable. Every night before going to bed, soak your feet in hot water at about 42°C for 20 minutes. Then massage the Yongquan point on the sole of the foot, which can nourish yin and kidney, regulate internal organs, relax meridians and promote metabolism.
