What is a pituitary fibroma

Pituitary fibroma is a type of tumor that we rarely come into contact with. The occurrence of pituitary fibroma can easily pose a threat to our health, so it is necessary for us to understand what pituitary fibroma is and the symptoms of pituitary fibroma. In addition, we also need to figure out the prevention and treatment methods of pituitary fibroma. Let’s take a look at what pituitary fibroma is below.

Pituitary fibromatosis (neurofibromatosis) Neurofibromatosis is a neuroectodermal abnormality caused by dominant inheritance. Soft fibroma occurs in children, mainly on the trunk and proximal limbs. It is multiple hemispherical or pedunculated tumors ranging from several millimeters to several centimeters. They are soft, skin-colored, pink or brown, and increase in size with age, and develop more slowly in adulthood.

The skin lesions of elephantiasis-like multiple neurofibromas are often distributed along the nerve trunks and are multiple, presenting as soft nodules and plaques within and under the skin. About 10% of patients develop malignant transformation, especially fast-growing, large lesions, which develop into neurofibrosarcoma. Café au lait spots are commonly seen on the trunk, especially on the waist and back. They are brown spots several centimeters in size, oval in shape, with clear boundaries. A small number of patients develop oral papilloma and macroglossia. Nearly half of them suffer from intellectual disabilities, intracranial tumors and epileptic seizures. Pituitary fibroma disease (neurofibroma) Adults with faster disease progression and larger skin lesions have a poor prognosis due to malignant transformation.

Pituitary fibroma disease (neurofibroma) Disease classification: Dermatology and venereology, otolaryngology Disease description This disease is also known as von Recklinghausen disease, autosomal dominant inheritance, neuroectodermal abnormalities caused by distorted dominant genes, commonly incomplete and simple types.

In the above article, we introduced what pituitary fibroma is. We know that pituitary fibroma is very harmful to our human body, so we must understand the symptoms of pituitary fibroma and seek timely treatment once pituitary fibroma occurs.
