What are the effects of scraping and cupping?

The pace of life of modern people is relatively fast. Under the dual pressure of work and life, many people's bodies are in a sub-healthy state, which seriously affects their normal work and study. Gua Sha and cupping are commonly used treatment and conditioning methods in clinical Chinese medicine in China. For sub-healthy people, the conditioning effect is particularly obvious. Moreover, these two treatment methods can also reconcile the balance of yin and yang and nourish qi and blood.

The effect of scraping on harmonizing yin and yang is basically achieved through acupoint combinations and medical methods and techniques. For example: If the disease is in the meridians or in the skin and flesh, it is considered superficial and should be scraped lightly; if the disease is in the internal organs or in the tendons and bones, it is considered internal and should be scraped heavily. Scraping has a bidirectional effect on the regulation of yin and yang balance. For example, for those with unstable blood pressure, after scraping the acupoints on the trunk and limbs, low blood pressure can be raised, while high blood pressure can also be lowered. Scraping the local area or corresponding acupoints can eliminate blood stasis, generate new blood, dredge the meridians, and promote the circulation of Qi and blood, thus achieving the goal of pain relief. This is the effect of scraping in promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.

Cupping can eliminate phlegm and relieve spasms, soften and disperse body lumps and wind syndrome caused by phlegm and dampness. Through scraping and releasing sha therapy, the pores can be unblocked, phlegm, heat, pus and toxins can be discharged, and it has a significant effect of relieving spasms and dispersing nodules. By stimulating the acupuncture points on the surface of the skin, blue and purple congested sha marks appear, which opens and dredges the pores. Various evil spirits such as wind, cold, phlegm, dampness, blood stasis, heat, pus, etc. that are stagnant in the meridian acupoints and corresponding tissues and organs are released to the outside through the skin and the meridians are dredged.

As traditional Chinese medical treatments, scraping and cupping are currently receiving great attention in the field of health care. Because these two treatment methods are relatively simple to operate, friends who have the conditions can perform the treatment themselves at home, and there will be no side effects. The requirements for the positioning of acupoints are not very high. However, during the treatment, the strength of scraping and the temperature of cupping must be controlled to avoid damaging the skin.
