What are the precautions for doing moxibustion?

When the balance of yin and yang in a person's body is out of balance, he or she is prone to illness. At this time, if moxibustion treatment is performed, it can effectively regulate the body's yin and yang, thereby achieving the effect of curing the disease. In addition, moxibustion can dredge the meridians of the human body, dispel cold and evil, and promote qi and blood circulation. Although moxibustion is effective, there are many precautions that we must keep in mind when doing moxibustion.

Moxibustion is a method of using the heat from burning mugwort to transmit it to the skin and meridians of the body to dispel cold evil, warm the yang and replenish qi, warm the meridians and remove blood stasis.

It has the effects of dispersing nodules, tonifying the middle and replenishing Qi. Moxibustion is suitable for people with cold constitution (cold hands and feet, lack of energy, susceptible to cold, fear of cold, diarrhea, etc.). Teenagers, young adults, the elderly, men, women, and even newborn babies can all use moxibustion, as long as they have a cold constitution, or if they want to treat illnesses caused by dampness, cold, or cold evil.

People who are not suitable for moxibustion: those with hot constitution (oral ulcers, abscesses, fear of heat but not cold, constipation, etc.). In principle, moxibustion is not recommended during women's menstrual period. Because you cannot be exposed to wind during moxibustion, please close the doors and windows before moxibustion and do not allow ventilation in the room. The same applies in summer. Do not ventilate or turn on the air conditioner. You cannot do moxibustion immediately after a meal. You can do it 1 hour after a meal because you cannot do it when you are too full. You should not be too full or too hungry during moxibustion. You should not do moxibustion when you are extremely sad, happy, or angry. You should keep your mood calm and relaxed. During moxibustion, you must drink more warm water to facilitate detoxification, and the water temperature can be slightly higher. You can’t drink cold water, even in summer.

Because when you are in love, you also need to be careful. If there is inflammation in your body, don't do moxibustion at this time. If you are suffering from certain skin diseases, do not do moxibustion. You cannot do moxibustion if you are pregnant or menstruating. Moxibustion treatment is not allowed on any exposed skin area.
