Do I need to fill my cavities? How can I treat them?

Generally speaking, when people's teeth have cavities, they will cause extreme pain. At this time, if you want to treat it effectively, the choice of method is very important. So, do cavities need to be filled?

Do decayed teeth need to be filled?

The harm caused by tooth decay is very serious and should not be underestimated, because it not only causes pain, but most importantly, it constantly erodes our teeth, causing them to gradually be damaged. In recent years, it has been clearly felt in clinical work that the public's attention to oral diseases has increased year by year, but when it comes to tooth decay, they still feel that it is not a big deal, thus delaying the opportunity for treatment and filling.

Some friends ignored tooth decay for a long time, and waited until it caused serious symptoms to ask: Is it necessary to fill the tooth decay if it has rotted to the root? This makes doctors very regretful, because if the tooth decay is filled in the early stage, there will be no subsequent symptoms at all. If the tooth decay has rotted to the root of the tooth, it is even more necessary to seek timely treatment because pulpitis may have already occurred. The measures taken are not only filling the tooth, but also other auxiliary treatment measures to fundamentally solve the problem.

Treatment for tooth decay:

For patients who have not formed cavities or have relatively shallow cavities, sodium fluoride paste can be applied to the cavities for permanent teeth, and silver diamine fluoride can be applied to the affected teeth for deciduous teeth. However, application of medication alone may lead to recurrence, so it is best to have a re-examination every six months.

If tooth decay continues to worsen and threatens the crown of the tooth, a cavity will form, leading to the destruction of the crown. If treatment is not continued at this time, tooth loss may occur. The main treatment method at this time is tooth decay filling. Tooth decay filling is to remove the carious tissue, make a certain hole shape, clean and disinfect it, fill it with filling materials, and restore the shape of the tooth.

If left untreated, tooth decay will continue to worsen, and to a certain extent the decayed tissue will be close to the pulp. During treatment, these should be cleaned out, and then a layer of marrow protective agent should be added to the bottom of the hole and then filled again. For some serious tooth decay, when the pulp is exposed during cleaning, pulp treatment is required before filling.
