What will happen in the late stage of gout? You have to know these hazards

Gout is a common clinical disease. If many people do not receive timely treatment after suffering from gout, the harm to the body will increase when the disease reaches the late stage. So, what happens in the late stage of gout?

1. Gout stones

According to data released by the World Health Organization in 2004, more than 90% of gout patients will develop gout stones to varying degrees, of which about 1/3 will have stones rupture, and almost all of them will eventually undergo amputation and become disabled due to improper care; 25% of gout patients will experience renal failure.

2. Renal failure

Uric acid forms precipitation in these areas, which can cause organic pathological damage to the kidneys and urinary system. If it develops to a certain extent, it can also cause renal failure and uremia. Statistics show that gout patients who have suffered for more than ten years often have complications such as hypertension, diabetes, and myocardial infarction, which are all harmful effects of gout.

3. Urinary tract stones

Patients with acidic urine will develop urinary stones. This is because the concentration of uric acid in the urine of gout patients increases, so stones will be excreted with the patient's urine. Smaller stones will not cause any major harm to the patient, but if the stones are too large, they will cause ureteral obstruction and thus cause nephritis.

4. Joint disability

Repeated attacks lead to chronic gouty arthritis, which in turn causes attacks to become more frequent and the intervals between attacks to become shorter. The pain gradually intensifies, and the most commonly affected joints are the knees, ankles, and elbows. In severe cases, it can affect the shoulders, hips, and spine, which can easily induce joint damage and deformity, leading to joint disability.
