Characteristics and prevention of pedereworm dermatitis

Characteristics and prevention of pedereworm dermatitis

Rove beetles will not bite people, but they contain strong acidic venom. If you slap them or crush them with your hands, the venom in their body will come into contact with your skin and cause rove beetle dermatitis. So what are the characteristics of pedereworm dermatitis?

1. Characteristics of Paederus dermatitis

1. The disease mostly occurs in summer and autumn, with August to October each year being the peak season, especially in seasons with high temperature, heavy rainfall and low air pressure. This disease often breaks out in years with continuous high temperatures followed by continuous autumn rains.

2. Skin lesions are mostly found after getting up in the morning, and the affected areas are mainly exposed parts of the face, neck, chest, back and limbs.

3. The skin lesions appear as strip-shaped, patchy or dot-shaped edematous erythema, on which densely distributed dirty yellow or white blisters or pustules are distributed. Linear skin lesions are like scratches by fingernails, with various and irregular shapes; patchy skin lesions are similar to skin burns. Paeder beetle dermatitis causes itching and burning pain at the site of occurrence.

2. Prevention of Paederus Dermatitis

1. Clear the weeds, rotten wood and garbage around the house, and destroy the habitats and breeding places of the poisonous rove beetles. Do not pile up waste items indoors and keep the room clean and tidy.

2. Install screen doors and windows in summer to prevent rove beetles from flying into the house and reduce the chance of human contact with the insects.

3. In midsummer, do not sleep with windows open or lights on; use mosquito nets or minimize body exposure.

4. When you find poisonous rove beetles crawling on your body, do not slap or rub them with your hands. Gently blow them away or use other things to drive them away. If your hands have come into contact with insect fragments, wash them immediately and repeatedly with soapy water.

3. Treatment of Paederus Dermatitis

1. After contact with poisonous rove beetles, rinse with soapy water immediately to neutralize the toxins and reduce damage to the skin.

2. For external use, you can choose 3% boric acid water for wet compress or mix Ji Desheng snake medicine tablets with water to make a paste and apply it to the affected area, which is also effective. If necessary, you can take antihistamines orally and apply topical corticosteroids.

4. If the condition is serious, you should go to the hospital for treatment in time.
