How to check for pelvic effusion?

Pelvic effusion is the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvic cavity. Pelvic effusion has a great impact on women's physical health and reproductive health. Common symptoms of pelvic effusion include low back and abdominal pain, irregular menstruation, etc. How should female friends check if they have pelvic effusion?

1. Examination of pelvic effusion

1: Ultrasound examination has an 85% accuracy in identifying masses or abscesses from adhesions in the fallopian tubes, ovaries, and intestines. It is generally used to diagnose more severe pelvic inflammatory disease.

2: Direct smear of secretions is a common method for diagnosing acute pelvic inflammatory disease. Samples can be taken from the vagina, cervical canal secretions, or urethral secretions for direct thin-layer smears. After drying, methylene blue or Gram staining is used to detect gonococci, but the detection rate of gonococci in the cervical canal is only 67%.

3: Laparoscopic examination is used for the definitive diagnosis and differential diagnosis of acute pelvic inflammatory disease. It can also make a preliminary judgment on the severity of pelvic inflammatory disease. Laparoscopic examination can be used to treat patients with pelvic inflammatory disease, suspected pelvic inflammatory disease and other acute abdominal diseases.

4: The average sensitivity of pathogen culture is 89.5%, with a specificity of 98.4%, and it is widely used in clinical practice.

5: Routine blood tests, routine urine tests, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate provide the basis for targeted treatment of acute pelvic inflammatory disease. Through these examinations, the misdiagnosis rate of acute pelvic inflammatory disease can basically be reduced to a minimum.

2: Symptoms of chronic pelvic effusion

1: Abdominal pain: Many female patients will have obvious abdominal pain in the early stages of pelvic effusion. This is mainly due to some chronic inflammation of the female reproductive organs during childbirth that stimulates the pelvic cavity, causing pelvic congestion. Women will also have back pain while experiencing abdominal pain. Women's discomfort symptoms will generally become significantly aggravated after excessive fatigue, sexual intercourse, bowel movements, and menstruation, which has a great impact on women.

2: Menstrual irregularities: Due to the accumulation of blood in the female pelvic cavity, patients will feel abnormal vaginal discharge in the early stages, but they often ignore the symptom. When the female's condition becomes more serious, her menstrual period will also become irregular.

3: Infertility: This is a more serious symptom of pelvic effusion in women, and it is also relatively common in clinical practice. When the pelvic effusion becomes more serious, the fallopian tubes of women will be blocked, which will cause female infertility. After a series of examinations on women, it will be found that their uterus is ectopic and their fallopian tubes are thickened. When pressing on the fallopian tubes, they will feel obvious pain.

4: Systemic symptoms: Female friends with pelvic effusion often have high temperature, fear of cold, often want to sleep but can't sleep, are not in good spirits, feel uncomfortable all over, etc.

3: Pelvic effusion according to pathological factors

It is divided into physiological pelvic effusion and pathological pelvic effusion. Physiological pelvic effusion often occurs in women after ovulation or in early pregnancy, and can usually disappear naturally without the need for treatment. Clinically, pelvic effusion in most women is caused by inflammation, which is the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvis. If not treated, it can gradually grow. If it is too large, it cannot be easily eliminated by medication and surgery is required.
