Most cases of mixed hemorrhoids are caused by long-term untreated internal hemorrhoids, which gradually lead to the occurrence of external hemorrhoids on the same tooth line as the anus. It is very important for patients to understand the early symptoms of mixed hemorrhoids and receive timely treatment. Five symptoms of mixed hemorrhoids: 1. Blood in stool: It is characterized by painlessness, intermittentness, and bright red blood after defecation. Blood in the stool is mostly caused by feces abrading the mucosa or forceful defecation, which causes dilated blood vessels to rupture and bleed. 2. Hemorrhoid prolapse: This is often a late symptom, with blood in the stool occurring first and then prolapse. In the late stage, the hemorrhoids enlarge and gradually separate from the muscle layer, and are pushed out of the anus during defecation. 3. Pain: Simple internal hemorrhoids are painless, and a few may have a feeling of heaviness and distension. When internal hemorrhoids or mixed hemorrhoids prolapse and become incarcerated, and edema, infection, and necrosis occur, there will be varying degrees of pain. 4. Itching: In late-stage internal hemorrhoids, prolapsed hemorrhoids and relaxation of the anal sphincter, secretions often flow out. Due to the irritation of the secretions, there is often itching and discomfort around the anus, and even skin eczema may occur, which makes the patient extremely uncomfortable. 5. Mucus overflow: The rectal mucosa is stimulated by hemorrhoids for a long time, causing inflammatory exudation and increased secretions. When the anal sphincter relaxes, it can flow out at any time, causing the anal skin to be frequently irritated and cause eczema and itching. The main treatments for mixed hemorrhoids are: 1. Surgical treatment There are many specific surgical methods, including drug injection, anal dilation, ligation, physical therapy (cryotherapy, laser, infrared), surgical ligation or resection, etc. 2. Conservative treatment The main method is to use drugs through oral administration, external application, suppository and fumigation to achieve the purpose of relieving symptoms. 1. Apply the medicine externally or insert it into the anus. Drugs are usually selected that have a protective effect on hemorrhoidal mucosa, reduce local inflammation, and promote wound healing. 2. Take the medicine orally. Usually, medicines with the functions of clearing away heat and cooling blood, moistening the intestines and promoting bowel movements, and reducing inflammation and healing wounds are selected. 3. Fumigation. Drugs that clear away heat and detoxify, promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and astringe and consolidate are usually used to fumigate the anus or prolapsed hemorrhoids to prevent edema, incarceration, and thrombosis in mixed hemorrhoids. This method is suitable for the elderly and frail, or patients with other complications such as heart, liver, and kidney dysfunction. |
