Hemorrhoids are a common and frequently occurring disease unique to humans. According to relevant census data, the incidence rate of anorectal diseases is 59.1%, and hemorrhoids account for 87.25% of all anorectal diseases. So what harm does internal hemorrhoids cause to people? 1. Anemia: Hemorrhoids cause the body to lose iron continuously. If there is blood in the stool for a long time, a large amount of iron will be lost, making the total iron content in the body lower than normal, which can cause iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia may have no symptoms or mild symptoms in the early stages. When the anemia is severe or progresses rapidly, symptoms may appear pale complexion, fatigue, loss of appetite, palpitations, rapid heart rate, shortness of breath and edema after physical activity. Some patients may experience neurological symptoms such as irritability, excitement, and irritability. 2. Incarceration: Another major symptom of hemorrhoids is prolapse of internal hemorrhoids. The internal hemorrhoids that prolapse outside the anus are clamped by the sphincter, and the venous return is blocked while the arterial blood is still continuously input, causing the hemorrhoids to increase in size until the arteries are compressed and closed, thrombosis occurs, and hemorrhoids appear. They become hard and painful and difficult to move back into the anus. The traditional view calls it "strangulated internal hemorrhoids", but clinically it is more common to see thrombosis in external hemorrhoids, so it is often accompanied by pain. When hemorrhoids prolapse and cannot be sent back, they are also called "incarcerated hemorrhoids". Long-term incarceration of hemorrhoids will also cause lesions. 3. Necrosis: Hemorrhoids are incarcerated outside the anus. Due to a series of pathological changes, local metabolic products accumulate, further aggravating local edema of the anus and aggravating the incarceration of hemorrhoids. This is a vicious cycle, so internal hemorrhoids will inevitably become necrotic over time. At this time, the necrosis is often limited to the mucosal part of the hemorrhoids, but it may also invade other parts of the human body. 4. Infection: After hemorrhoids are incarcerated, patients with varying degrees of infection often experience symptoms such as tenesmus, a noticeable feeling of anal distension, etc. At this time, the infection is mostly confined to the anus. If forceful reduction is performed, the infection can easily spread and cause submucosal perianal or ischiorectal abscesses. There have been reports abroad of fatal portal vein sepsis associated with hemorrhoidal incarceration. |
