How to prevent Norovirus?

Everyone should pay attention to the prevention of Norovirus because this disease is contagious. Therefore, you should pay attention to taking frequent baths, not eating raw or cold food, and try to avoid using public supplies, especially when taking care of patients.

1. Wash your hands properly . Wash your hands with soap and running water, rubbing them for at least 15 seconds before eating, after going to the toilet, when you come home from outside, and after touching garbage and animals.

2. Do not eat raw or cold food . Do not eat raw, cold, or uncooked food, wash raw fruits and vegetables before eating them, and avoid eating undercooked seafood. Generally, viruses easily attach to the gills and intestines of shellfish and other seafood, which cannot be washed off with water.

3. Clean up the patient’s personal belongings. If there is an infected person at home, it is best to use public chopsticks or adopt a separate dining system. If the quilts, clothes, and floors used by the patient are stained with vomit, it is best to soak and wash them with bleach or disinfectant.

4. Avoid crowded places . 1-3 days after the onset of the disease, the virus content in the patient's body is the highest, and a large amount of norovirus will be excreted in the feces and vomit. The virus attaches to dust and floats in the air. If inhaled by other people, it will cause transmission. Therefore, avoid going to crowded places, schools, hospitals and other densely populated and enclosed areas, and pay attention to hygiene and cleanliness.

5. Confirm symptoms and isolate yourself in time . If symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea occur, seek medical treatment immediately, especially for young children and the weak. After diagnosis, you must stay at home within 3 days from the time you become ill until your symptoms completely disappear to avoid spreading the disease to others. Patients should try to avoid close contact with family members while at home.
