A diseased liver can cause excess copper to accumulate in the blood and brain, causing confusion similar to Alzheimer's. This confusion is more often associated with advanced liver disease. 7. Muscle wasting. An enlarged belly (ascites) and swollen ankles accompanied by wasting away of the arms and legs may be a fluid imbalance caused by liver disease. This muscle wasting can also occur above the cheeks and near the temples. These are also mostly symptoms of advanced liver disease. What to eat if your liver is not good Cruciferous vegetables.
