How to effectively treat phlebitis

How to effectively treat phlebitis

The full name of phlebitis is thrombophlebitis, which is mainly manifested by congested erythema around the patient's skin. There are many ways to treat phlebitis. As for which treatment is more effective, there are mainly two types: Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. Venous thrombectomy can also be performed.

1. Thrombolytic therapy:

It can directly dissolve blood clots if used within 6-9 hours of onset. Urokinase and streptokinase are commonly given intravenously. Because this therapy has the risk of causing bleeding, it is generally only used when femoral vein or subclavian vein thrombosis or concurrent pulmonary embolism occurs.

2. Venous thrombectomy

Venous thrombectomy can be considered, using a Fogarty catheter and aspirator to remove the thrombus. This method is simple, safe and effective. It is suitable for deep vein thrombosis with a course of no more than 72 hours. It has a better effect on primary iliac-femoral vein thrombosis, but attention should be paid to postoperative anticoagulant therapy. According to Lord, the surgical mortality rate was 1.3-2.5%. Treatment of septic phlebitis may require removal of the affected vein in addition to antibiotics.

3. Inferior vena cava filter plasty or inferior vena cava filter placement:

The purpose is to prevent pulmonary embolism. Currently, it is only recommended for patients with proximal deep vein thrombosis in the lower limbs, patients with contraindications to anticoagulant therapy or pulmonary embolism that still occurs despite appropriate anticoagulant therapy, patients with recurrent small pulmonary embolism, and patients after pulmonary artery embolism removal. The success rate for preventing pulmonary embolism can reach 97%.

4. Saphenous vein bypass grafting, etc.

5. Treatment with traditional Chinese medicine

It has good therapeutic effect. Modern research shows that the drugs in the Huayudan series, such as snow lotus, saffron, moutan bark, centipede, earthworm, etc., have the effects of dissolving blood clots, resisting thrombi, anti-platelet aggregation, reducing fibrin, and reducing blood viscosity, thereby dissolving the formed blood clots, enhancing the venous blood flow rate, reducing endothelial cell damage, alleviating and treating the condition, thereby improving the patient's limb swelling, pain, superficial varicose veins and other compensatory changes, avoiding the sequelae caused by venous thrombosis, such as discomfort in the affected limb, edema, skin pigmentation, ulcers, etc., and at the same time largely avoiding the formation of organ thrombosis.
