There are two main types of hypertension: primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Many people do not know the difference between primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. From many aspects, there are essential differences between primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. (1) Essential hypertension Primary hypertension, also known as hypertension, is a disease with increased blood pressure as its main clinical manifestation, accounting for about 95% of hypertensive patients. Most patients develop the disease between the ages of 40 and 50. Early patients may be asymptomatic and the disease may be discovered during physical examinations. A few people have symptoms such as headache, dizziness, palpitations and limb numbness. Late-stage hypertension can cause lesions and corresponding symptoms in the heart, brain, kidneys and other organs on the basis of aggravated symptoms mentioned above, leading to arteriosclerosis, cerebrovascular accident, kidney disease, and easily accompanied by coronary heart disease. Clinically, hypertension can only be diagnosed after secondary hypertension is excluded. (2) Secondary hypertension Secondary hypertension refers to the high blood pressure that occurs concurrently with certain diseases. It is only one of the symptoms of these diseases, so it is also called symptomatic hypertension, accounting for about 1%-5% of all hypertensive patients: Secondary hypertension should be considered for young people or hypertensive patients with weak constitution, or hypertension accompanied by obvious urinary system symptoms, or hypertension in late pregnancy, postpartum, menopause, or hypertension accompanied by systemic diseases. If the underlying condition that causes the symptoms of hypertension can be cured, then hypertension can disappear. (3) Others Hypertension is divided into two categories: primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Essential hypertension refers to a disease with unknown cause, also known as hypertension. It accounts for more than 95% of hypertensive patients, and most patients have a family history of hypertension. Secondary hypertension is hypertension caused by systemic diseases with a clear cause. The most common causes are kidney disease and endocrine diseases, followed by hypertension caused by brain inflammation, tumors, and trauma. Certain drugs can also increase blood pressure, such as hormones, contraceptives, licorice extract, etc. |
