If the number of white blood cells in the prostatic fluid is >10/field of view, it is highly likely to be prostatitis, especially if fat-containing macrophages are found in the prostatic fluid, which basically confirms prostatitis. However, the number of white blood cells in the prostatic fluid of some patients with chronic bacterial prostatic fluid may be in the field of vision; and the number of white blood cells in the prostatic fluid of some normal men is >10/field of vision. Therefore, the examination of white blood cells in prostatic fluid is only an auxiliary method for bacteriological examination of prostatic fluid.

2. Urine test (four cups test)

The patient should drink more water. Those with prepuce that is too long should turn up the foreskin. After cleaning the glans penis and urethral opening, the patient urinates and collects 10ml of urine; after continuing to urinate for about 200ml, collect 10ml of midstream urine; then stop urinating, do prostate massage and collect prostate fluid; finally collect 10ml of urine again. Each specimen is examined under a microscope and cultured separately. By comparing the number of bacterial colonies in the above specimens, it can be determined whether there is prostatitis or urethritis.

3. Prostate ultrasound examination

Prostate B-ultrasound is the examination of the prostate using B-type ultrasound. It is clinically used to measure the shape, size and position of the prostate. It can be used to diagnose prostate hyperplasia, prostate tumors, prostate abscesses, cysts and chronic prostatitis. It should be used in patients suspected of having prostate hyperplasia, and is also commonly used in physical examinations of healthy men.
