What are the symptoms of vitreous opacities?

Vitreous opacity is an eye disease. Common symptoms include varying degrees of blurred vision, a feeling of floating black shadows in front of the eyes, and hemorrhagic opacities. This is mainly caused by trauma or retinal diseases.

1. Dark shadows floating in front of your eyes

Mild patients feel that there are black shadows floating in front of their eyes, like mosquitoes and flies flying. The onset is sudden and the disease progresses rapidly. The degree of vision impact varies depending on the location and degree of vitreous opacity. Mild opacity does not affect vision and cannot be detected with an ophthalmoscope.

2. Inflammatory opacity:

It is caused by the migration of white blood cells and protein aggregation when nearby tissues are inflamed. It is a common manifestation of various retinal and uveitis. Such as tuberculosis and syphilitic chorioretinitis, Leptospira uveitis, uveal endophthalmitis and migratory endophthalmitis are all early symptoms of vitreous opacities.

3. No red reflex in the fundus

More pronounced opacities are common in degenerative myopia, uveitis, and vitreous hemorrhage. The patient feels large and numerous black shadows in front of his eyes, and his vision is impaired to varying degrees. Examination of the fundus may reveal floating masses such as dust or thick cotton wool. In severe cases, the fundus cannot be seen, and there may even be no red light reflection. It was pitch black.

4. Hemorrhagic turbidity

Early symptoms of vitreous opacities include hemorrhagic opacities: common in trauma, various retinal vascular diseases and blood clots.

Vitreous opacity is not a disease name but the most common phenomenon of vitreous. Many important fundus diseases are diagnosed only when patients notice vitreous opacities. In short, we must pay attention to the early symptoms of vitreous opacities, avoid diseases that cause vitreous opacities, and actively prevent and treat diseases.
