What to do if you have high intracranial pressure? Experts recommend treatments

For a disease like high intracranial pressure, we need to treat it according to its cause. The first thing to do is to reduce intracranial pressure. You can take some blood pressure-lowering drugs under the guidance of a doctor. If the pain is unbearable, you can also use some painkillers such as ibuprofen and carbamazepine appropriately.

Intracranial pressure is the pressure exerted by the contents of the cranial cavity on the skull walls. The normal subarachnoid pressure in the lateral decubitus position is 5 to 15 mmHg. Increased intracranial pressure means that the intracranial pressure is higher than normal. The causes include: 1. Traumatic diseases such as cerebral laceration, intracranial hematoma, etc.; 2. Vascular diseases. It mainly refers to hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease, ③ tumors, including benign and malignant intracranial tumors, ④ inflammatory diseases, such as epidemic meningitis, purulent meningitis, brain abscess; ⑤ congenital diseases, such as hydrops in infants, craniosynostosis, etc.; 6 systemic diseases, such as toxic encephalopathy, uremia, diabetic coma, hepatic coma, etc.

(1) Etiological treatment: This is the fundamental treatment. For example, intracranial space-occupying lesions can be treated surgically according to the condition.

(2) Reduce intracranial pressure: 20% mannitol, furosemide, glycerol, fructose, etc. can be used for intravenous drip. The dosage and administration time should be determined according to the degree of increase in intracranial pressure. Use drugs that inhibit the production of cerebrospinal fluid, such as acetazolamide, which is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and has the effect of inhibiting the production of cerebrospinal fluid. Adults use 0.25 grams, 2 to 4 times a day orally. If necessary, reduce intracranial pressure through decompression under the temporalis muscle, ventricular puncture and drainage, etc.

(3) Analgesics: Analgesics can be selected based on their effects, uses, and side effects, such as aspirin, analgesics, ibuprofen, carbamazepine, tiapride, etc.
