Silicosis is caused by long-term inhalation of free silica dust. It is also the fastest progressing and most serious disease. Silicosis is divided into three stages. Silicosis patients can also choose dietary therapy and eat more lung-nourishing and yin-benefiting foods such as radish, kelp, pear, loquat, etc. 1. Silicosis is divided into several stages Stage I pneumoconiosis (I) a) I: There are small shadows with an overall density of level 1, which are distributed in at least two lung areas. b) I: There are small shadows with an overall density of level 1, and the distribution range exceeds 4 lung zones; or there are small shadows with an overall density of level 2, and the distribution range reaches 4 lung zones. Stage II pneumoconiosis (II) a) II: There are small shadows with an overall density of level 2, which are distributed over more than 4 lung zones; or there are small shadows with an overall density of level 3, which are distributed over four lung zones. b) II: There are small shadows with an overall density of level 3, distributed over more than 4 lung zones; or there are clusters of small shadows; or there are large shadows, but they are not large enough to be diagnosed as III. Stage III pneumoconiosis (III) a) III: A large shadow appears, with the major diameter not less than 20 mm and the minor diameter not less than 10 mm. b) III: The area of a single large shadow or the sum of the areas of multiple large shadows exceeds the area of the right upper lung area. 2. Dietary treatment for silicosis Silicosis is caused by inhalation of dust, and is often manifested as phlegm and blood stasis. Therefore, the principle of dietary therapy is to resolve phlegm and soften hard masses. You can choose to eat radish, water chestnut, kelp, coix seed, etc., or squeeze them into juice and drink, or add water to cook and eat. In addition to phlegm and blood stasis, it is also common to have Qi and Yin deficiency, cough with phlegm, pain in the throat, hoarseness, etc. You can choose to eat lily, pear, lotus root, monk fruit, loquat, radish, turnip, etc. to nourish the lungs and replenish Yin. In the late stage of silicosis, complications such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema, recurrent respiratory tract infections, tuberculosis, endogenous pneumothorax, cor pulmonale, etc. are obvious in terms of deficiency and it is advisable to replenish the deficiency and strengthen the body. Edible foods include stewed pig lungs with lily and Codonopsis, stewed chicken with Astragalus, roast duck with Cordyceps, and longan and ginseng honey paste. |
